I worked on this more and I'm pretty happy with it now. Included a version with a backpack I think is cute but I don't think I'll actually end up using. #pixelart

I'm not sure if it's finished but I think this has significantly more sauce now just making the cat look a little pointier and scruffier and making the silhouette a bit bolder towards the top... #pixelart
Idk I still feel like this character design is lacking in sauce? What could I do to sauce this thing up a little bit?

I worked on this black cat character design a little more. I'm not totally sure about the highlights on the cape but I realized there was a whole tone in the palette I was not using and wanted to try to add a little more dimension #pixelart
We just released our retro rpg Destiny Spire on Steam! Go check it out! #rpg #jrpg #indiegame #retrogaming #gaming store.steampowered.com/app/3369150/...

This game is shaping up to be something special! Also, I’m doing the music for it! You can hear some of it in this clip!
Big update! Most changes might not be immediately obvious, but I think they're pretty impactful. Can you spot them all? (if you feel like cheating, I've listed them on my patreon blog at patreon.com/elliesprites, which you can read for free!)
Destiny Spire is almost here. If u enjoyed the demo we definitely think youll enjoy the full game since it just gets better the further u progress Check it out if you like old school RPGs and active time battles! Wishlist: store.steampowered.com/app/3369150/... #indiegame #rpg #jrpg #retrogames
Just a rough little mockup. But what could it be for...? (forgive the wonky wall tiles, I just threw them together by hand and was too lazy to draw the bricks properly...) #pixelart
I like doing 8 bit inspired soundtracks but I really want to do a guitar-centric soundtrack for something…
Less than a month away from the Destiny Spire release now. Try the updated demo we just released on Steam (link👇) and wishlist to be notified on release All that’s left to finish is the final cutscene (which I’m frantically try to draw 😮💨) #rpg #indiegames #gamedev #retrogaming #jrpg
Good news! After extensive play testing we can’t find any more bugs in the updated Destiny Spire demo so I’ll be uploading it tonight. Full version is about a month away and files from the demo will be compatible with the full version. Wishlist 👇 #rpg #indiegames #retrogaming #jrpg #gaming
Our chimney collapsed and some comms sent my roommate's way would greatly help! Our chimney is the vent for our gas emissions and the heater is turned off until it's fixed! I wanna take a hot shower again!
Help. this needs to get done. i have no hot water and if its not done by winter I freeze.
Ahh animating pixel art is so much work especially when you have a dozen other projects to work on and doing all the sprite work is only a small slice of that one project 😭
patreon.com/elliesprites/ Just a reminder that every dollar really does actually help me a lot, and if you like what I do and would like for me keep doing it, this is the best way to help with that!

Maps can be very helpful to solve the labyrinths in Destiny Spire but they’ll only show where you’ve been. If you use a vision orb though you can instantly reveal a large area of map around the character. Wishlist on Steam were aiming to release next month #rpg #jrpg #indiegame #retrogaming #gaming
I'm going to a little Melee tournament with some really good players from my region at the end of the month... I'm still relatively new so I expect to go 0-2 but it's motivating me to get better at least!
Here's where my new game is at right now! If you like what you see, consider checking out my Patreon! I have free posts detailing the development so far, and if you become a member it really helps support future development and make sure I can keep working on it! www.patreon.com/c/elliesprites
I'm looking forward to the idea of working on a soundtrack where I can play my guitar. I am so much better at guitar than keyboard!
It turns out I really REALLY love composing soundtracks and it might be odd to say as a musician who has written songs for 20 years but… I think I really have a knack for it? Is this as much of a pipe dream as every other creative pursuit I’ve dreamed of turning it to a career? Maybe, but I love it!
I haven't been able to find a book to hold my interest since finishing the Earthsea series and then Left Hand of Darkness recently... No author's writing seems to draw me in quite like Ursula K Le Guin... I've already read the Dispossessed too... Any recommendations...?
Going from making NES inspired music on my phone with GarageBand to installing a DAW with the Magical 8-bit plug on my laptop with a midi keyboard is night and day for making chiptune-ish stuff… I probably should’ve done this before making my first soundtrack but I still like how that turned out!
I got so many things to work on right now.. Sadfishing (solo) album, top secret platformer project (TBA), practice for end of August melee tournament, Porch Cat shows, hopefully more soundtrack work, not so top secret tiny tactics game I’ve been designing mostly in my mind… I need a schedule 😮
Some people who made extremely cool games follow me and I’m not sure why but I do appreciate it 🤗
Do you prefer momentum based platformers with acceleration and deceleration (N+, many Mario games, Super Meat Boy) or platformers where you speed up and slow down almost instantly with little to no momentum (Hollow Knight, Mega Man, Shovel Knight) or something in between (Celeste maybe?)?
And with that I am officially announcing that I am open for soundtrack work! I can do NES inspired sounds like this, something more modern but still electronic sounding, something with actual acoustic and/or electric instruments or pretty much anything in between!

Quick reminder that by playing Pyromancer you get to listen to @emilyminnow.bsky.social's amazing soundtrack! She did an incredible job and you should go check it out. elliesprites.itch.io/pyromancer
When it comes to videogame soundtracks being shared as albums where the original tracks are meant to loop and the sections don't repeat... do you prefer for the track to just play once, for it to be repeated all the way through once, or for it to repeat partially and then fade out?
I composed the soundtrack to this little gem of a retro platformer so I was fortunate to play through various early builds while working on it, and I can tell you it is a lot of fun to speedrun! My personal best so far is 8 minutes and 16 seconds but I know I can do better... how about you?
