El-Sayed obviously didn't put up Bernie numbers in rural Michigan. But he held his own in small-town and rural counties, and only lost suburban counties to Stevens by 5 points (!). That, plus his total dominance in Ann Arbor/Grand Rapids/etc, was enough for the win.

There is a lot to say about the Nolan Odyssey movie. But one point that I think has not been emphasized enough is: this is a film about living in LA, as Nolan, my erstwhile British compatriot and age mate, has done for years. I gather it’s a strange place.

Tim Dillon, who retired from firefighting in 2017, went back to work as a medical courier. “We have liquidated everything my dad worked for his entire life, and we’re going to give it to the corporation,” he said.
