Celebrating a birthday next week. Realized I only have a decade left before retirement from uni. What I do with that is up to me.

I left an organization yesterday. No regrets. Feel lighter.

Psychological safety is being able to voice out your thoughts and ideas without fear of judgement or blame. It is difficult for multi-disciplinary conferences, but it is possible with an experienced facilitator or moderator. #HealthXPH

Yeah..we all make mistakes, but not everyone is willing to accept that, and not everyone will take responsibility and sincerely apologize. #healthxph

T3. I think it also means that for the person presenting, there must be respect for the number of hours of work and effort behind the presentation. Some higher ups are always looking for mistakes that they can focus on rather than the “meat” or outcome of the case.#healthxph

T3. Exactly why we have MS Con. For me I always try to look also beyond words. Their context, operating scenarios, challenges. Look for the common ground and start there. The HCS is unfortunately siloed into different services. #Healthxph

T3. It would mean no aggressive insults hurled or refraining from even microexpressions during conferences. Every person is entitled to share what they learned, no matter how obscure the fact, or how little their experience is. That still counts. We don’t need “wow” all the time. #healthxph

T2. Yes, especially if in differences of opinion in the people who are managing the case. It would do well for the other doctor referred to not to criticize the treatment of the referring doctor WHILE the patient listening. My thing is, if you don’t agree, let the other know DIRECTLY.#healthxph

T1. After a bad experience of being scolded in the past, some people would rather not risk the possible discomfort of public humiliation. For a trainee or a fellow, it might keep you quiet because you don’t want to be seen as someone who talks a lot.#healthxph

For me, I was found arrogant for speaking up on something I actually had expertise on 🫣😅🤐.

T1. Apart from “not wanting to commit a mistake”, sometimes there is an endorsement that you don’t want to “stand out too much” that you’d be having people become “watchful” of your every move. #healthxph

Sometimes even when you say it’s ok to speak up, people are still afraid. #healthxph

I just hope the healthcare team do not disagree in front of the patient, it might be difficult to arrive at a shared decision, unless at multi-disciplinary conference when pros and cons need to be weighed. #HealthXPH

Yes I think interprofessional collaboration matters to achieve the patient's best outcome. If there is conflict, the policy that overrides all other policies would be the patient's best interests #HealthXPH

I notice now that communication is sometimes confined to the EMR. I encouraged my endo fellows to speak directly to the gen med service and other co-managing services. #healthxph
