Hey #atl folks and #tech folks, do folks know why Google Maps would show such a weird, winding layout for Edgewood Ave by Georgia State? Conjecture, but could they be relying on AI assistance that's going wrong? Overfitting based on photos or driver behavior?

I don't know who else to attribute thanks and props but the candidates themselves in my ignorance, but they keep satisfying me, which says something. They are basically never on lists of weak Dems that get Bluesky ire.

One thing that I wish I heard more people discuss: how did Georgia Democrats find two outsider candidates to flip Senate seats in the same cycle, who have remained broadly popular among all wings of the party without any scandals, but other states couldn't replicate the magic formula?

It doesn't have to be this way. Firing can be legislated to be more ethical, thereby incentivizing companies to be mindful in hiring. Reduce the boom and bust cycles and the heartbreak, turmoil.

I want to re-emphasize one part of this Xbox story: Half of the 3,200 cuts are happening today and half are happening in the next 12 months. In other words, even people who survived today's layoffs will have to spend the coming year wondering if they're going to be next.

Fascinating. We laud our representative democracy, but perhaps we are eclipsed by other forms in many ways.

I've argued that LLMs facilitate man-in-the-middle attacks on representative democracy, whereby malefactors flood legislators with text and voicemails, preventing them from ascertaining what their actual constituents want and need. The US is uniquely vulnerable because face-to-face is impossible.

🎆 How are folks feeling on this Fourth of July? As a US citizen I'm not especially enthused in the moment, but with fireworks last night and festivities around me, that energy invites me to gratitude.

As America marks 250 years, may we recommit to building a diverse democracy, an economy that works for the many and not just the few, and a future where every generation has the opportunity to live a dignified life. Happy 4th of July!
