For the 5th consecutive year child casualties have flat-lined at around 13,000 road casualties of age 16 and under. In what other area of life would the death or injury of 13,000 children be "acceptable"? The government has a Road Safety Strategy that aims to reduce child KSIs by 70%.

"Most were not killed or injured in front of schools but in the rest of the road network" Yet in the comments under any Facebook mentioning speeding, you'll get "We don't need 20mph limits, kids should be taught the green cross code like they were in my day" 🤬🤬🤬

In 2024, 11,337 children under 16 were injured on roads in Great Britain, according to the DfT. These include 42 killed and 2,357 seriously injured, a number little changed from a decade earlier. Most were not killed or injured in front of schools but in the rest of the road network.

Looks like we still won't get any rain down here on the south coast! 😩 It has been WEEKS now since we had any. On the plus side, it's nice leaving my garden furniture cushions outside all the time. On the downside, the garden is burnt to a crisp and the planet is burning. Ho hum.

A change is on the way, with rain moving in from the northwest 🌧️ Some areas will see welcome rainfall, but the southeast is likely to remain much drier as systems weaken further south and east It'll also be breezy, and at times windy, as the pressure gradient tightens 🍃

Some people say that we can't afford to address climate change, it wouldn't be good for the economy. Do they think that schools, businesses, shops closing early or not opening for several days at a time is good for the economy? We can't afford NOT to address climate change!
