Conversion Incentive (S3159) was passed out of committee last night! This bill, sponsored by Sen. Bissaillon and Rep Speakman (H8142), will help repurpose underutilized or vacant buildings into new homes, revitalizing neighborhoods and creating high-quality construction jobs in the process.

BIG WINS FOR TRANSIT! Last night, House Finance released its revised budget, including more investments in RIPTA. Included in the budget is not only full funding of the proposed agency budget, but also added funds to restore some of the cuts. 🧵

Fantastic progress at the State House! 🙌 We are thrilled to see the Faith-Based Affordable Housing bill clear the Senate committee and move forward. Let’s keep this momentum going. Next stop: the Rhode Island House of Representatives!

This legislation would help open the door for faith communities to create much-needed affordable homes across Rhode Island by allowing residential development on underused religious property. A small zoning change with the potential for a big community impact.
