Trans girl in Texas. Software nerd by day, local and state advocate by night.

Somewhat of a non sequitur: but a reform around labor and healthcare we need is eliminating the contractor/part time avoidance of providing health insurance. If you work an hour for someone they are responsible for 1/120th of your premium for that month. None of this 30hr cliff nonsense.

Wake me when an ai “breaks containment”, gets into HR, finds 7500 employees illegally misclassified as contractors and files their paperwork with the local departments of labour and/or employment for years of backpay.

Every time a trans woman comes up as “obliterating” the competition I go see what the record for that event was and the trans woman is way below it. Events are thin. Sometimes the people better than you don’t show up. Sometimes they do. That’s sports. Trans women compete, not dominate.

3) whenever trans women play with cis women they are often average, and even the trans women who are #1 in a thing are very close to the records of their cis women peers. if you believe that "sex differences" are why sports are sex segregated then this can either mean:

My parents retired out to bumfuck Arkansas to dodge taxes after they had no income. They would complain relentlessly about “how hard it was to get work done.” Yeah, you moved to where no one lives. Congrats. Pay more for the 1 guy in 100 miles that does what you want.

New transplants to rural areas tend to not GAF about farm workers' livelihoods. They're more concerned about the view. Sorry, "nature." As we see w this lady. She's got a lot to say about the horrible sin of "solar panels be ugly," but nothing on farm wages. Is that the rural voter who counts?

A risk as a public figure is that a publisher takes a statement out of context to misrepresent their statement. A public figure has, presumably, some platform to push back against that. A normie has no power in that dynamic. If every word you say can destroy you, you can only say nothing or perish.

Like, thematically, Nolan is using the Odyssey to almost speak *as* 'western civilization' and then what he says is, "you men (very much *men*), with your violent inhospitality, your greed and appetites are what has destroyed civilization by breaking the bonds between people."

Do we really want to give everyone and every business in the City the ability to negotiate and have legal leverage and extract concessions? We know who is more like to use those legal tools. It is more likely going to be wealthy and more connected folks who already have more influence than most.

Fuck this. If the Dems need people that believe in human rights to support them to get wins THEY CAN NOT ABANDON HUMAN RIGHTS. I will withhold my vote from the dems if they will not support my right to exist in polite society. If that creates a strategic problem for them then figure it out.

Roger. She did. However, because shit is stupid the only other option is a MAGA sycophant. I ask you this earnestly: who's going to be easier to hold to account? Also, what wins in Ohio does not translate to the rest of the country. Long time listener first time caller

This is quintessential, textbook Moral Panic stuff. When you get to the point of harassing everyone over a threat that quite literally doesn't even exist, you've reached flagrant absurdity. Right out of Red Scare and Satanic Panic, it hurts everyone and helps no one.

If you have an advocacy group that is specifically built around excluding a specific minority from your spaces, you are a hate group. This is not difficult to understand. The fact that Amnesty International backtracked is the real crime here.

The problem with changing time twice a year is we don’t do it often enough to get good at it. We should change the clocks every day so that solar noon happens at 12:00 precisely. Also time zones are cool. We should have more. A time zone for every degree of longitude.
