Got this email from Google today (full thing in alt text). Y'know, a few months back my phone asked me about switching Assistant over to Gemini. I gave it a fair try, and attempted to set a timer, something I have Assistant do a lot. Gemini couldn't do it. Immediately switched back to Assistant.

i think, now, more than ever its really important to interact with people who like your art and vice versa, and cultivate more community and trust among artists and commissioners and followers in general. its not a perfect system by any means but i think building trust between everyone will help

Someone I know later found out an artist (16k followers) they got a commision from uses AI and now they don't have funds to commish me or another artist they like. Not only does the slop machine steal art, these scammers directly steal work from real artists
SCREEN Act, which would have required mandatory age-verification for sites (like this) that allow "material harmful to minors" failed to pass out of committee after thousands and thousands of people called their Senators. More work ahead!

Your voice matters and you should feel good that you made a difference. Obviously, the fight isn't over, but this was an important victory.
