'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)

An embroidery hoop containing a sewn landscape from above. It shows a forest on the right, a line of fire and charred ground with smoke on the left. The smoke is felted wool.

my neighborhood 7-11 closed a couple years ago and tried to reopen but couldn’t get the permit approved because there’s a preschool next door and 7-11s sell alcohol (the previous permit was grandfathered in). i saw a fence going up around the lot recently and looked up what was moving in: a gun shop

I’d like a setting that prevents people from replying to or quote-posting me with altless images Not that I’ve noticed anybody doing it, I just think Bluesky’s “remind me to add alt text” feature is pretty cool. I like being reminded, and I’d like to see a sort of viral spread of alt awareness

Some situations I encountered on the way home from rehearsal tonight: - friends I hadn’t expected to run into, on a fancy bar’s patio - a cop car, flashers on, at the site of three shootings last week - a person on the sidewalk positively belting “Kyrie” by Mr. Mister Minneapolis!

I’ve been a regular Lime rider for at least a couple years, and I only just now realized the locks on the scooters aren’t linked to the app. Anyone can just press a button and unlock them. They’re advisory locks.

Little kids can run around anywhere and you'd better be ready to stop for them. People who use assistive devices to get around can take all the time they want to cross the street. Cars and bikes are built to go fast but you have no moral right to do so.

Also this would be a great time for men to talk about how men can also be victims of harassment, rape, and abuse. It’s a topic that deserves real discussion (not just to come up when men want to suppress discussion about the harassment, rape, and abuse women are victims of).
