Things I and friends have done to calm an angry abusive man from further escalating and killing us or our children: -Smiled -Kept normal schedules in order not to trigger a fight -Appeased with kind acts (cooking, cleaning, favors) -Forced friendly tones and words
Rep. Max Miller: "My former wife has claimed that during a custody exchange at my home that day, I assaulted her…If I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?"
Just finished this audiobook by Cory Doctorow. Much food for thought.
These poor little guys were trapped in a dumpster outside of an apartment building. My good-hearted spouse built them a staircase out of boxes to help them escape.

Solar panels and a heat pump for every home in Canada. A just transition to a Green economy where Indigenous sovereignty and workers’ rights are respected. Check out the #NewGreenDeal for more info about how @avilewis.ca and the @ndp.ca will help our planet. lewisisleader.ca/ideas/green-...
1/ More than 99% of CUPE cabin crew workers at WestJet voted in favour of a strike mandate. We've seen what Mark Carney does when workers legally exercise their rights. The Liberals have used Section 107 multiple times to stamp out worker power, forcing them back to work without a fair contract.
Today, my colleague @leahgazan.bsky.social and I wrote a letter calling on the Minister of Jobs, @pattyhajdu.bsky.social, to refrain from violating WestJet workers’ right to strike.
There are so many people in positions of authority who have not worked through their own trauma, and it shows.
Current status: printing off many copies of this @ndp.ca petition to have at our #ClimateFest @kitchenercenndp.bsky.social booth in Kitchener while listening to @avilewis.ca, @jphornick.bsky.social, @janellelapointe.bsky.social and @naomiaklein.bsky.social.

Great panel today at the Equal Voice "Women Talking Policy" session on the creation of provincial and federal budgets. We are hearing from @karinagould.bsky.social (Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance) and Michelle Cooper (Parliamentary Assistant to Min. of Finance.)
Argh. So disappointing that ETFO bargaining is stalled. The government is not budging on any items being negotiated locally (eg refusing to follow past practice). This is not setting the stage for a collaborative process at all.

Everyone stop your doom-scrolling and appreciate the cuteness of a brown tabby cat caught mid-grooming with her highland cow stuffy.
Violence is never the answer.* … … … … … … … … … … … … … *Unless the question is: “What is a word that rhymes with silence and starts with the letter V?”
We need government grocery stores in Canada. The big grocery stores in Canada have gouged Canadians for far too long.
At our municipal grocery stores, New Yorkers will get a 30% discount on eggs, milk, chicken, produce and other everyday essentials. In the wealthiest city in the richest country in the world, no one should have to wonder how they’ll afford the food they need to feed themselves or their families.
The ultimate sign of System Administrator success: If you do everything right, no one will realize you did anything at all. :c) Be sure to thank your IT staff for their hard work on #SysAdminDay this upcoming Friday, July 31st.
Well… I suppose the tomato and cucumber salad I was hoping to have this week will not be a thing, thanks to the jerk squirrels. 🐿️
My kid couldn’t leave a stuffed otter at the Mennonite Thrift Shoppe today. Its whiskers had fallen out, and the fabric on its nose was ripped… she knew he had been well-loved and deserved a second chance to be loved. So she bought him for $3 and is sewing a patch on his face.
