Rez raised, Black, Dakelh, climate justice & Indigenous rights, storyteller, long haired free thinking bastard, big time nerd, introverted yapper, hater of economic reconciliation, builder of collective imagination. ✨

"The fact that Carney’s Liberal government has designated this pipeline as a project of national interest in spite of the over 110 First Nations' expressing concerns or complete opposition to the project is not only unacceptable, but in violation of Indigenous laws, Treaties and the Rule of Law."

My ‘Atsoo attended Lejac Residential School (Photo 1) until 8th grade. She was “named” number 89. My mother and her siblings would later attend Lejac day school because my ‘Atsoo was recovering from tuberculosis.

This weekend we organized a counter-summit to Carney's fire sale of resources & public infrastructure. The rooms were overflowing and alive with movement energy. Then we marched, led by Indigenous leaders, took the barricades for hours and danced. Colonialism, neoliberalism, fascism: NO to it all.

Doug Ford metaphorically shit all over the Bloor bike lane, and now we have Toronto Police horses *literally* shitting all over the Bloor bike lane, putting our taxpayer dollars to work, protecting the world’s 200 richest CEOs arriving to Toronto to buy Canadian infrastructure and public services.

Looking to raise the last $270. This is your chance to do economic reconciliation better than the government! Support a little homegrown Indigenous food sovereignty for my rural living family. If you have learned something from me and have the means I’d appreciate if you sent a few bucks.

Raising $ to pay for upgrades to my sister’s chicken coop. Raising her own chickens really helps her with high cost of groceries. I’m covering $250, and looking to raise $500 more. Please share and e-transfer to janellelapointe@gmail.com if you are able.

Opinion: Nations face difficult decisions with this government: partner on a project, but be left with financial debt and stranded assets if it fails; deny fast-tracked projects and tie up scarce community resources on litigation and front-line confrontation. www.hilltimes.com/2026/08/10/c...

My latest piece! ✍🏽 “A country is not a corporate portfolio. Indigenous rights are a critical line of defence against unchecked corporate power. When the elements of life that we depend on are treated as assets to be unlocked, everyone and everything, except the investor, becomes expendable.”

The Notre-Dame burning got more attention than Indigenous communities burning to the ground. LA burning got more attention than Indigenous communities burning to the ground. Toronto air quality is getting more attention than Indigenous communities burning to the ground.

Highlights from Toronto’s powerful People’s MOU action 🔥 Toronto Danforth and Taiaiako’n Parkdale High Park! 👉On June 25th 2026, 40+ communities participated in the People’s MOU national day of action.

They didn’t choose the North route because they think it’s easier to push it through the South, not because they respect the tanker ban or Indigenous jurisdiction btw. No route is a good route for a bitumen pipeline.

Looking forward to instructing the foundational Climate Action course from Simon Fraser University Continuing Studies starting on September 9. Starting Day 4 of PPT on Missing Indigenous Children and Unmarked Burials with genocide and crimes against humanity expert witness, Fannie Lafontaine. What is genocide? “This definition, as restrictive as it is, encapsulates the violence committed by Canada against Indigenous people.”

Industry talking candidly about “economic reconciliation” not because of some sort of decolonial awakening, but because it speeds up approval times and reduces political and regulatory risk and therefore protects their bottom line. Check out the full article at: www.desmog.com/2026/05/21/e...

❗️NEW- What does 'Economic Reconciliation' mean? According to industry representatives, it means faster approval times for fossil fuel and mining projects.
