Yes, not all trans women undergo surgery, but that's not the point. The point is by talking about how doctors perceive our bodies it very quickly becomes clear how transphobia and misogyny intersect in a way that makes direct sense to pretty much any feminist.

Talking about how the surgical method for trans surgeries didn't include the reconstruction of a clitoris until relatively recently because surgeons thought female sexuality was just penetration does more to create solidarity between old school feminists and trans women than any genderbread man ever

Having worked on the transphobic myths around vaginoplasty it always strikes me how when I describe the surgical technique in a conference the average reaction is not "Ugh gross disgusting mutilation" but instead "Science is crazy we can do that???!"

This is a related and expanded graphic which emphasizes an important point: Higher speeds reduce your visibility and reaction time, making it more likely you'll hit someone or something, and then when you *do* hit them, it's more likely to be fatal.

A graphic that says Why Speed Matters

Below that are two stats:

Drivers yield 75% of the time while traveling 20 mph
Drivers yield only 17% of the time when traveling 37 mph

The next line shows that drivers have a much wider field of vision at 15 mph as compared to 30 to 40 mph.

Finally, there are three stats:

9 out of 10 pedestrians survive when hit by a car traveling 20 mph
5 out of 10 survive at 30
1 out of 10 surive at 40

Most speed cameras ticket at 11 mph over the limit. So I'm issuing my regular reminder that when it comes to a car hitting a pedestrian, each 10 mph increase in speed significantly raises the victim's risk of death. Chart source: walksf.org/our-work/cam...

A graph showing the various risk of death for a pedestrian hit by a car.

At 20 mph the risk is 10%, at 30 mph, it's 40%, and at 40 mph, it's 80%
