Clive Myrie just reassured BBC viewers that this is a "peaceful transfer of power", which I'm sure will come as a relief to everyone.

I also think the BBC has become fundamentally less sure of what it is there to do, meaning it relies on talent more. Is it there to entertain, inform, simply report, or is it (as they seem to have picked) a messy mix of all three where nothing is done well and everyone comes away a bit miffed.
