People have argued over this for centuries but pretty sure I can crack this today on bluesky via sarcasm.

"To shoot a man because one disagrees with his interpretation of Darwin or Hegel is a sinister tribute to the supremacy of ideas in human affairs — but a tribute nevertheless." - George Steiner

One supervision in 2.5 years sounds bad but I was once told a tale of a PhD submitted in a foreign language and, when the administrator objected, the student said that his draft chapters had been in that language and the supervisor had said they were fine. His supervisor did not read that language.

I find the defence of the subsidised grocery stores so odd. Maybe it's just because UK Grocers are so good but I cannot fathom how this is meant to work? Or be better than normal policy ways to help businesses or consumers? Why go in to bat for something that is a bad idea and waste of time?
