The carrot approach to speed cameras: Speed-detecting traffic signals that reward drivers for obeying the speed limit. If a driver is speeding towards the light, it will turn red. If the driver is approaching at a safe speed, it will turn green. These signals reduce speeding and injury crashes.

In 1957, a T ride cost 20¢. Adjusted for inflation, that's $2.40, exactly what the T costs today (well, $2.41, but close). The Turnpike from 128 to New York cost $2.45. Adjusted for inflation, it would be equivalent to $29.64. Driving the length of the Pike costs $4.25 today.
This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.

Removing a parking minimum does not remove parking. It removes the mandate. Different homes, businesses, and neighborhoods have different needs. Parking reform gives people more flexibility to respond to the place they actually have. More flexibility. Better choices. Fewer unnecessary barriers.
Aha. I see that Hoboken, NJ, USA, also has paid visitor parking in permit zones (mostly pay-by-app only) on one side of the street. This approach seems to be going mainstream. Seen in the recent UCLA webinar on Residential Curb Management, youtu.be/Qf-XnNO83XI?...
Paul (parking reform) Barter@paulbarter.bsky.social · 2w agoEvolution of parking controls in a London street. I used streetview to look at Lamb Lane in Hackney. In 2008, parking was not controlled. It now has “shared parking bays” where permit parking and casual public paid parking coexist. Payment is via mobile app (with Paypoint shop backup option).

Took 2 friends cycling from Alki to Magnolia. Two ladies over 60 years old. They loved the protected bike lane the whole way. Making bike infrastructure accessible to the ‘next tier’ of cyclists is important for more adoption: wide lanes, good bike parking, clear wayfinding safe from cars
