As a grumpy old court reporter I find the use of daily podcasts to cover trials an interesting development. I see there are a couple up and running for the Russell Brand trial. But bloody hell, the BBC’s pitching of a rape trial as “Fame Under Fire” is terrible.

A screenshot of a BBC podcast homepage. It features a picture of Russell Brand with long hair and dark sun glasses, and the words dead “Fame Under Fire: Russell Brand on trial”

A man with an infectious disease bit a police officer and then laughed when shown a picture of the injury, a court has heard. Abdullah Saed had been caught red handed working as a "runner" dealing cocaine and cannabis at flats in Swansea / Abertawe. www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-n...

You join me at Swansea Crown Court / Llys y Goron Abertawe for an interesting sentencing exercise where a defendant is being dealt with for offering to supply cocaine when, in fact, he was trying to “rip people off” with deals containing baking soda and crushed up paracetamol.

My front page story for Monday’s South Wales Evening Post, and Western Mail newspapers - A man who ambushed a former partner in Carmarthen Park and stabbed her multiple times in a “frenzied” attack has been jailed for 24 years for attempted murder.
