14. That isn't to say that something like this won’t ever happen, but claiming that it is indeed happening now is extremely dangerous. Not only does it cause unnecessary panic in an already vulnerable community, but it also distracts from the issues that trans Americans are actually experiencing.

1. Recent reporting has sparked fears that the Trump admin is beginning to revoke trans people's passports by declaring us 'national security risks.' But is it true? As per Transitics' investigation, no. There is no evidence to suggest that trans people’s passports are being revoked. Here's why.
Fact Check: Is The Trump Administration Revoking Trans People’s Passports By Declaring Them ‘National Security Risks’?
Although recent reporting has sparked fears that the Trump administration could be beginning to revoke trans people's passports, these claims appear largely unsubstantiated.

Hey #MAPOLI, @assignedmedia.org's reporting on trans issues is super-relevant and Evan's newsletter is well worth the subscription.
Reckon I'll write the newsletter this week on how the fight over trans rights between Senator Ed Markey and primary challenger Seth Moulton has come to symbolize the fight between Democratic politicians who stand on principle and those who will say anything to get elected.

Fascinating for WSJ to have this headline which implicitly suggests business leaders may have had too much influence in the past.
New York City’s business elites are long accustomed to direct access to City Hall, where even Democratic mayors felt the need to court the city’s wealthiest and most influential corporate leaders. That access is getting shredded by Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
If you become a member of Assigned Media you get a Thursday members-only essay written by me every single week. This week I'm writing about... um... well... kinda trying to figure that out still. Any suggestions?

REMEMBER The guidance coming into effect today doesn't dictate what you're allowed to do as an individual. It for service providers and business owners. Do not cower in fear, do not reduce yourself, do not isolate, that is one of the intended effects.
Whether someone realizes it or not, accepting the "liberal bubble" framing at all is a way of granting the utterly absurd notion that the globally reviled and increasingly unpopular views of the reactionary right are the norm
"Liberal bubble" has only ever meant anywhere where right wing perspectives aren't artificially elevated and forced into everyone's feeds.

dumb journalist question, how do you get comfortable just going up to people in person and talking to them for a story
automatically running signal messages through a stranger's AI is, I think, the worst pitch and idea I've ever been cold pitched in my life and that is saying a lot

But when people clearly express that they both want higher quality goods with price certainty and decent conditions of production and will buy cheaper items individually: suddenly collective action problems don't exist! Solve problems with your individual consumption or STFU!

I appreciated a lot of Nolan's epic blockbuster retelling the Cass story from the perspective of Jolyon Maugham of the Good Law Project, and making Rowling a snake woman in the tradition of @midnightpals.bsky.social was a lot of fun, but I can't say I loved the credulous portrayal of Keira Bell.
(OOC: in 1798, Olaudah Equiano released his memoir to the British public. The depiction of slavery from the perspective of a freed slave appalled the public, and swelled the abolitionist cause. Cis folk won't tell the whole truth about us because they don't know it. Support trans journalists)

I wrote an article that made this point. Jesse Signal got so mad, he created a bizarre fantasy version of me and declared me incompetent entirely based on his own imagination. All because I made the same point as Kevin Kruse.
If you're a cis person insisting that the prospect of trans children playing youth sports is not only "a problem" but in fact one of the biggest problems we currently face as a nation, I'd be happy to introduce you to literally a million other things that should be worrying you more.

I have to really hustle for memberships through the end of this year because I took a big risk in changing platforms away from Squarespace. The effort is chugging along so far, but we're not out of the woods. I made the change to assure Assigned's long term viability, but in the short term eeeeek!

"You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read." Happy birthday, James Baldwin!
I was around in the 70s and 80s, when we assumed legal gay marriage would NEVER happen. And we won. We won the culture on this, too. You can FIGHT BACK on fucking "wedge issues" and win for all of is that Tom would like to abandon.
In his debate last night with Ed Markey, Seth Moulton said, "To the trans community feeling the weight and the pain of the Trump administration policies, I deeply recognize your trauma, and I’m sorry if my comments hurt you." But he didn't actually apologize for his 2025 comments. 1/🧵
the best HS teams in the country have multiple guys who will be in the NBA in a couple of years. they aren't normal high schools, they're basketball factories. but this literally doesn't matter. the value of women's sports isn't contingent on their performance vis a vis men.
Don't just drive past the premise, though, which is absurd. Any WNBA team is exclusively the top 0.01% athletes in the sport. Pretending that a high school team could hang with, much less beat, them is ridiculous.
It is extremely depressing to see how Iran's government has a shrewd understanding of America's interests and culture while the entirety of America's government thinks they are dealing with primitive sand people who will cower in fear from mean tweets and trade everything for shiny trinkets.
