This is a great idea, but I hope this position isn't just like other local news organizations where the journalist is just relaying details about every shooting. I want to see deeper dives into police responses, neighborhood organizations, causes, and creative solutions.

Zeynep Tufekci is still completely insane over the lab leak idea. "There is a conspiracy to cover this up" is not evidence for "covid was a bioweapon that escaped from a lab". It could also be evidence for my theory, "please stop talking about this stupid idea"

What I learned: - there's a reason the Spanish flu was memory-holed (they also knew masks worked then) - our society isn't actually much different than that of humanity in other periods. We aren't the enlightened, futuristic society we often think we are or claim to be.

Real idea: As part of the effort to get DC and PR statehood, next Dem president should invent about State Weeks. Each of the 52 states gets its own celebration week every year. A random July week is Montana week. Tourism bonanzas. Televised lottery every year for week placement. We ain't above this.

FYI, #Chicago, I'm seeing this post starting to go viral. IMO, unless this flag is kept up indefinitely, there's a real chance we'd be participating in a false moral panic. Please try not to jump to conclusions - see what I've elaborated on here, and that it might be an honest misunderstanding.

I worked for a wedding planner on the Upper East Side back in the day. This kind of stuff happens all the time with rich people you don't know the names of -- and people are just really showing their asses dunking on one incredibly famous couple for having a wedding on their own terms.

The number of people who don't seem to understand that 1) renting out a private venue is something people do all the time, even regular people; 2) if they did it elsewhere a whole town/island would have shut down instead, and 3) in this "particular* case, no, a wedding doesn't owe you anything.

I am all for robust treatment of mental health, including depression. However, it was absolutely criminal not to make a statement elucidating the situation, for legislative staff to continue on without quitting, and for Kean not to resign. Member of Congress is not like any other job. (1/2)
