EvolvingWild album of the week #69 Kraftwerk - Computer World (1981) Our uncle found this vinyl at an estate sale and gave it to us for our birthday. I had never heard it before, and now I listen to it regularly. It’s incredibly ahead of its time and my favorite Kraftwerk album.

I finished Truman Capote's "Other Voices, Other Rooms" last night, and while the book was great, all I've been thinking about after I read more about its background is the photo of him that appeared on the back of the original dustjacket in 1948
It’s hard to explain but tv was better when you couldn’t watch the show you wanted whenever you wanted to watch it and most of the shows were worse and the TVs were worse and the entire experience was worse, that’s when it was better
Three days ago I set my prescription sunglasses on top of my car when I was bringing stuff into the house. I forgot about them. Two days ago, I drove somewhere, glasses still on top of the car. They fell off somewhere. I’ve walked almost two hours looking for them. I haven’t found them. Devastation.
There have been many times over the last year and half+ that I've wondered if I'm living in a dream. Or maybe some kind of unfair simulation? There's gotta be an end to this, right??

And an even bigger problem that they've talked a generation or two of relatively progressive voters into believing that putting actual progressive candidates on the Dem side of the ballot will cause the entire country to vote for Hitler.
It's a real problem that a lot of Democratic elected officials and leaders actively hate their primary electorate.
After weeks without rain, it's finally raining. I had to put this on. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSzO...

I've been trying to read more over that last 2 years, but I'm finding that sometimes I get done with a book that's so incredible I lose the motivation to start something new afterward. This has been an odd experience because I've never felt this way with any other art form.
This is subtle, but it's obnoxious to see the "AI" label now being used to describe, at times, basically anything stats related. Generative "AI" and LLMs are not the same as models designed to predict a very specific thing (image recognition, typo correction, weather events, etc.)
Spent a bit of my afternoon watching the little critters visiting our Ironweeds (Vernonia - still can't figure out the exact species). We've even got some skippers showing up!
I'm a simple man. Give me a solid cheddar cheese with some Town House crackers and I'm happy man
People on Bluesky sigh and talk about The Discourse as if it were something required of them instead of something they opt to partake in, day in and day out. You really don't have to. Post about your favorite cheese
about once a week i think about this terrible public health decision somebody made

We were very much NOT the salad guys, and I feel ashamed to be associated with it. Lol jk. It was Manny.

Late night reminder that Point Break is still the greatest movie ever made
For our birthday, Luke and I finally finished this 1500 piece Ravensburger puzzle that we’ve been working on since last summer while spending time at our parent’s cabin. We’re, somehow, missing two pieces. 😢 😭 😔
I’d like to take this opportunity to wish my brother a happy birthday!! 🎊🎁🎂
We both just realized that we went full time with Evolving-Hockey 5 years ago today! Man, that feels so far away and, yet, not far away at all… Thank you so much to all our subscribers - you’ve allowed us to keep doing this, and we’re incredibly grateful. Here’s hoping for another 5 years! ❤️❤️
Luke and I watched Seconds (1966) last night. It absolutely blew me away. A lot of films are heralded as "ahead of their time", but I can't remember the last one I watched that felt so entirely out of place. Like 20 years before you'd expect to see it.
EvolvingWild album of the week #68 Frank Sinatra - September of My Years It’s been a bit. My favorite Sinatra record. This $3 version version is played to shit, but I think it lends to the album. A pristine copy would also lend to it. 10/10.

Still thinking about the FIFA World Cup 2026 final halftime show
That may have very well been the worst sports halftime show I’ve ever watched.
That game ended up being really fun. It was terrible for 90 minutes. And then it was fun.
I like that Messi looks just like an average dude. Like somebody’s husband id be introduced to at a party as a “programmer” who likes disc golf and “movies”.
Unfortunately if this game goes much longer I’m gonna have to leave because we’re going to play a better sport at 5pm (bowling)
[soccer player gets kicked in the leg, does an entire flip in the air, and lands on his arm from six feet up] Ok, that one actually looked like it probably hurt
I, however, will remember that I wasted two hours of my Sunday watching this terrible game where I otherwise would’ve been doing nothing important at all and that is offensive
Gonna be an 89th minute heartbreaker and that'll be all anyone remembers from this game.
