We're delighted to have contributed case studies to OpenAI's report on scientific computing in the age of agentic AI. 📃 hubs.la/Q04r75Zm0 Alongside Felix Krueger (Altos), we contributed agent-assisted rewrites of RNA-seq QC tools (RustQC, FastQC-Rust & more), built for @nextflow.io and @nf-co.re.

Scientific computing in the age of agentic AI

A new field report shows how scientists use AI coding agents to modernize scientific computing, accelerating software development and discovery in genomics and beyond.

I'm very happy to say that we now have new tools for viewing @nextflow.io log files for both the #CLI and the #VSCode extension! Try it out with the latest Nextflow edge release (26.05.0-edge) after a run: $ nextflow logfile Or open any log file in VSCode with the Nextflow extension installed ✨🌈

Nextflow log files are great for debugging, but digging through 1000s of debug lines to find an error can be difficult Introducing new log viewers in the CLI and VS Code extension, with syntax highlighting and log-level filtering to drill down to a few lines of warnings and errors hubs.la/Q04m8s110

It's amazing to see how much Nextflow has grown! When I joined Seqera in 2022, there were multiple places around the world who barely had anyone who had ever run Nextflow. It's a totally different scenario in 2026, and it's so nice to have been on board during this trip! 🤩

When Nextflow was first released, the goal was simple: make scientific workflows reproducible and scalable for everyone. 📈 Nextflow is the gold standard for bioinformatics, bringing control and traceability to the volume and velocity of science.

@multiqc.info has ~200 config options for customizing reports: renaming samples, reordering modules, dropping stats columns, tweaking plot defaults, and more.📊 But most users don't know what's possible, so we built a MultiQC Config Wizard. hubs.la/Q04hgKlS0

AI coding assistants just passed a threshold: domain experts can now rewrite established scientific software in days. This wave of rewrites is coming for #bioinformatics. The question isn't whether to embrace this capability, but how to do it responsibly.🧵 hubs.la/Q04b85ww0
