Really amazing how the US economy generated the lowest unemployment in the developed world and led the planet in most measures of mass prosperity for decade upon decade before the idea of a "billionaire" had even entered our nightmares. bsky.app/profile/atru...

Lombardo on Trump: "When the press and media runs him down, they think about 'he's taking care of his billionaire friends.' But those billionaire friends provide jobs. And unless you take care of them, those jobs are absent."

1/2 I travel back in time, and hear a voice saying "Barack Hussein Obama," then farther, another rants "God forbid that we have an Irish Catholic 'President Kennedy.'" And before this the voices merge into a thousand bigotries and slurs that sound quaint or silly today. bsky.app/profile/atru...

JD Vance: "We don't want the next administration, whoever -- god forbid you're gonna have President El-Sayed in three years ... "

I would honestly be curious to know how this policy decision was made within Vanguard. Teaching the "Asset Manager Capitalism" week in my course is theoretically challenging, because the incentives of asset managers as shareholders aren't always clear. bsky.app/profile/uk-n...

Liz Warren is 100% right in this - the President should not be able to own or trade the Vice President or members of Congress, which even a cursory look at J.D. Vance or most of the Republican Congressional caucus reveals Trump very clearly does. bsky.app/profile/eliz...

Bottom line: The president should not be able to own and trade stocks. Or the vice president. Or members of Congress.

Anyone who chooses to invest is, to use the charmingly quaint and old-timey parlance of Enron, a Muppet who deserves to have their face ripped off. The people who will be unknowingly forced to invest if Musk forces SpaceX onto a major index are just collateral Muppets. bsky.app/profile/quin...

"SpaceX has proposed one of the most aggressive corporate governance regimes in US history, intending to guarantee Elon Musk cannot be fired." As @madisoncondon.bsky.social remarked to me, Musk is transforming US corporate governance. giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...

The idea that a war only exists if there are casualties does not appear in the text of the Constitution. Nor does it appear in Madison’s notes on the Constitutional convention debates. Nor is there evidence it was discussed in ratification debates. It is made up.

Sen. Rand Paul: "I've had the debate with this administration ... they told me this isn't a war. I said, why isn't it a war? They said, 'Well, a constitutional war has to have significant casualties' ... initiation or declaration of war is *before* the casualties."
