Just had a quick peek at my email and saw this good news…once in a while a proposed library cut gets the cut instead…prison library services in Canada are spared…glad to have written to help stop the cut…wasn’t expecting the campaign to work.

Cleaning out a rarely used desk drawer and found all of this old signage…sure hope we don’t have a repeat of that kind of era between now and my retirement…
@teacherkjohnson.bsky.social Great to see you promoting #SetTheBooksFree in @bctf.bsky.social Teacher mag. Hard to believe we weren’t instantly able to get more #TeacherLibrarians onboard. (Alas, I might not get to #BooksOut4Summer 😢 due to big switchover, Follett to Insignia happening right now)
I’m famous!!! At least, kinda sorta…in the school newspaper created by a Gr 5 team.
Year-end book returns before my big switchover from Follett Destiny to Insignia…seems to be going well…let the check-in onslaught begin!! Eep!
Whew! That was fun. I just submitted a story for the @nycmidnight.bsky.social #500WordChallenge2026 I definitely love #flashfiction & #microfiction and working within constraints beyond even length is quite an invigorating challenge.
POV: You’re a T-L whose adrenaline was all burnt up in 30 min early this morning (Book Fair chaos, sigh), but, as you begin to collapse into PJs at 5PM, you realize that your #LibrarianFashion today was very en flique 🤪 and this spring-esque socks & tie combo was a major part of that accomplishment.
To my library colleagues who went all-in on AI: we told you so. We told you they would use technology you were training to replace us. We told you that it wouldn't matter to admin if AI couldn't do even a fraction of our job. And you dismissed us.

Decisions, decisions… Still whittling down my future orders lists to make choices for books to add to my $600 bonus books (I thought I was down to about 50 bucks, but nope!) Still checking here for last minute book recs…
If you see this post in the next 30 min, tell me your absolute fave recent #kidlit books, as I’m putting an order in ASAP. As always, when wanting some quick crowd pleasers of the high quality I prefer, I’ve consulted the ever-fab @fuse8.bsky.social recs missed lately while off doing other things…
While I’m here, my #TLsky #skybrarian network, maybe some of you are fans of #zines, or curious, at least…? Well, I make ‘em, have a zine Insta… Chilliwackadoodle Ol’ School Zine Machine…(might make a bsky COSZM one day)… Not selling them except in local bookstore & art gallery… Go take a look?⬇️
Hmmm, still haven’t made my way back here much lately (other projects…my zine-making) taking over free time, but wanted to share the joyous moment I had that anyone in #LibraryLife dreams of: I just found out I have $600 still left to spend in my library budget account!!! So #TLsky #skybrarians…
#FaveBookmarkToday This duo by Lemon Dawn studio, local artist, via Snail Mail Club monthly subscription plan—get a l’il package o’ fun along w/ her sticker design of the month. It’s a bit of extra joy to receive such fun mail. Look her up? Subscribe? Anyway, loving my new bonus beetle bookmarks.
My #FaveBookmarkToday (and for several days) has been this raised/embossed metal one with 5 stylized galloping horses… I always try matching #bookmarks to subjects/themes/moods of books. Currently reading this zany concept Pony Confidential mystery (horse narrator doing detective work; oddly fun).
A fun side project: making zines. Another: volunteering w/ muralfest. Another: doing food/beverage tours downtown that work in mural touring as we go, sooo… 2 classes want to do a downtown bookstore visit plus mural tour?! —I’m in!! + I make them a “workbook” zine! www.instagram.com/p/DX5MIuaARA...

Ton o’ time after school to start planning change-ups, schedule chaos to run a book fair soon (& I do barest bones version)—sooo much logistics, ugh Bussing home, punk+esque playlist on (see #LibrarianSoundtrack post), Amyl&Sniffers “Doin’ in me head” came up—chorus fit well (even if rest didn’t)
Haven’t been here much lately…kinda missing it…maybe I’m coming back again… Anyway, can any #TLsky #skybrarians help with this #LibrarianSountrack project of mine?⬇️
Q: Any fave punk (or punkish vibes?) songs I shld add to my playlist I’m building…? Had to close the library to kids this morn so I cld cont to listen to killer songs for another 15 min after getting off the bus before bell tolls #LibrarianSoundtrack (auto-pic of 4 albums not a great rep of list)

Had to fix/wreck the QR codes in the Dan Santat book Are we there yet? Meant sitting under my desk for ages awaiting this fix. Putting it on display at one point, remembered QR codes, decided to check them as I couldn’t remember what content came up—well, a junk site hijacked the codes 👀also ALT
I’m kinda interested is this Gander thing, but this Canada goose already made a big migration over here (…and lost a lot of social media enthusiasm along the way as other platforms got more and more problematic)…hmmm…
Love a reversible book. Will be wanting to get my hands on this one; sounds like a potentially great Storytime read. …when I have some more money to spend on new books again (depleted the spring budget rapidly)
Teachers & librarians! We have a great teaching & discussion guide for THE WHALE'S TALE & THE OTTER'S SIDE OF THE STORY: A BOOK TO READ FROM FRONT TO BACK AND BACK TO FRONT - you can download it here: cdn-static.supadu.com/harpercollin...
Anyone else find it fascinating that Harry Potter fell off of Top 10 Most Challenged Books list right around the time JKR went full-blown TERF? The people who spent more than a decade challenging those books disappeared? Had a change of heart? Decided she was one of them?
Me, putting a freebie up for grabs in the staff room just now:
Haven’t done many #LibrarianFashion posts for awhile, but new direction for my snazzy socks game, so time… Tested several pairs of compression socks from this company. Worked very well to reduce/stop my left leg from swelling—just ordered/rec’d a bunch more. (Various tests…just old man veins😢)
Hmmm… Very intrigued by these novellas re-released as one vol. Had a major soft spot for ol’ Westerns movies for what I consider to be absolutely kitschy fromage of machismo cowboy/sheriff/outlaw/antihero stories…the taciturn tough guy outsider hero of the frontier…funny, even when not meant to be.
Endorsed! Sarah Gailey’s Hippo is a fun alt-history Western, with hippos!
Not here much lately…miss it a little…maybe coming back more… But… Weighs on me sometimes how posts, fun in the moment (day or two, then rapidly relegated, old news) have very little…longevity/legacy…like…meaningless…as past works on socials die off, reposting too much old stuff is…gauche IDK,weird mood
After school on a Friday afternoon, this video (which I’ve now watched three more times since it keeps on giving)…well, it takes on a new resonance. Weary, so, “Same same robo-runner.”
I have just watched this six times. It’s the perfect wabi-sabi moment. It’s slapstick. It’s hubris tragedy. It’s existential absurdity. It’s hilarious joy.
Getting closer…
Looking forward to this year’s Canadian Independent Bookstore Day on April 25th. We’ll definitely head over to the stellar local shop, The Book Man. CIBD Contest: www.indiebookstores.ca/cibd-contest/ CIBD General Info: www.indiebookstores.ca/cibd/

School day just ended a short time ago, last kids hit the road, and I luxuriously stretched, sighed, started the after school crash/relax, thinking TGIF!!! Then, several minutes later… WAIT, what…? This was only Wednesday? But it FELT like it should already be the end of Thursday—NO FAIR.
