Just had a quick peek at my email and saw this good news…once in a while a proposed library cut gets the cut instead…prison library services in Canada are spared…glad to have written to help stop the cut…wasn’t expecting the campaign to work.

From an email update: “Great News: Prison Librarians Saved! Dear BCFI friends, supporters, and volunteers, Today the Commissioner of Correctional Service Canada (CSC) announced an official rejection of the proposed budget cut that would eliminate federal librarian positions. This means, thanks to your support and advocacy, librarians in federal penitentiaries across Canada can continue their invaluable work. We are grateful to Commissioner Talal Dakalbab for his swift review and sound rejection of such a harmful cut. We are also encouraged and inspired by his thoughtful message, in which he confirms that "access to reading materials, information, and learning supports plays an important role in offender rehabilitation, including literacy development, education, and personal growth. This will continue." We are thrilled by this news and want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who raised their voice and took action in support of prison librarians. At a time when access to books, literacy, and learning within our institutions is more important than ever, your advocacy sent a powerful message: prison libraries matter, and the work done by prison librarians is not only necessary, but life-changing. We were fortunate to be supported by a remarkable community of writers who set aside their own work to write compelling and heartfelt articles about this misguided decision. Their voices helped galvanize public attention, sparked important conversations, and inspired so many Canadians to take interest and action. POV: You’re a T-L whose adrenaline was all burnt up in 30 min early this morning (Book Fair chaos, sigh), but, as you begin to collapse into PJs at 5PM, you realize that your #LibrarianFashion today was very en flique 🤪 and this spring-esque socks & tie combo was a major part of that accomplishment.

#FaveBookmarkToday This duo by Lemon Dawn studio, local artist, via Snail Mail Club monthly subscription plan—get a l’il package o’ fun along w/ her sticker design of the month. It’s a bit of extra joy to receive such fun mail. Look her up? Subscribe? Anyway, loving my new bonus beetle bookmarks.

A picture showing the mentioned beetle bookmarks – I think it might be what is called a beetle in a stylized illustration style, done in pastel blues, and pinks on a light green background, and it was originally a single image of a beetle that is now split perfectly down the center, so that forms to bookmarks with rounded edges. In the background behind, it is the snail mail club envelope, purple with a yellow lemon dawn address sticker, and sticking out from behind that are small portions of barely visible extras like a mini print monthly newsletter, a colouring sheet and a drawing prompt sheet (I have them so that if someone actually orders at a bit more of a surprise, then if they’ve seen everything fully)The second photo in which one of the beetle book marks as visible as it was before, while the other one is flipped over to the backside, which has a rainbow and cloud with the lemon Dan logo plus the monthly snail mail club logo, which is a rainbow in the background behind a snail that has a lemon shaped and lemon coloured shell area.

My #FaveBookmarkToday (and for several days) has been this raised/embossed metal one with 5 stylized galloping horses… I always try matching #bookmarks to subjects/themes/moods of books. Currently reading this zany concept Pony Confidential mystery (horse narrator doing detective work; oddly fun).

Ton o’ time after school to start planning change-ups, schedule chaos to run a book fair soon (& I do barest bones version)—sooo much logistics, ugh Bussing home, punk+esque playlist on (see #LibrarianSoundtrack post), Amyl&Sniffers “Doin’ in me head” came up—chorus fit well (even if rest didn’t)

Had to fix/wreck the QR codes in the Dan Santat book Are we there yet? Meant sitting under my desk for ages awaiting this fix. Putting it on display at one point, remembered QR codes, decided to check them as I couldn’t remember what content came up—well, a junk site hijacked the codes 👀also ALT

I’m kinda interested is this Gander thing, but this Canada goose already made a big migration over here (…and lost a lot of social media enthusiasm along the way as other platforms got more and more problematic)…hmmm…

Promotional ad for gander gandersocial.ca a newly developing Canadian version of Bluesky…blueskyish Shows some or all of five Canadian geese flying in V formation, gander circle logo (black, w/ white font) in centre. Taglines: I fly with Gander. Because ragebait isn’t very Canadian.

Anyone else find it fascinating that Harry Potter fell off of Top 10 Most Challenged Books list right around the time JKR went full-blown TERF? The people who spent more than a decade challenging those books disappeared? Had a change of heart? Decided she was one of them?

Haven’t done many #LibrarianFashion posts for awhile, but new direction for my snazzy socks game, so time… Tested several pairs of compression socks from this company. Worked very well to reduce/stop my left leg from swelling—just ordered/rec’d a bunch more. (Various tests…just old man veins😢)

Open box from Viasox company with ankle length summer socks and longer socks, all in various funky prints, loosely strewn so each is partially visible. Patterns include koi fish, tiger stripes, galaxy star clouds, spring tree blossoms…?. All of them are compression socks to aid with circulation so my ol’ man veins won’t cause swelling of my left ankle and calf.

Not here much lately…miss it a little…maybe coming back more… But… Weighs on me sometimes how posts,fun in the moment (day or two,then rapidly relegated,old news) have very little…longevity/legacy…like…meaningless…as past works on socials die off,reposting too much old stuff is…gauche IDK,weird mood

School day just ended a short time ago, last kids hit the road, and I luxuriously stretched, sighed, started the after school crash/relax, thinking TGIF!!! Then, several minutes later… WAIT, what…? This was only Wednesday? But it FELT like it should already be the end of Thursday—NO FAIR.
