"Mental well-being is knowing and doing the things that make you happy, living a life that aligns with your personal values, and engaging in meaningful relationships with others." By this definition, required work training, you're telling me that life in 2026 is incompatible w/ mental well-being.

Can't hire more staff to do the work that needs doing, but no worries, IT is now providing access to the "approved AI tool of your choice: Claude, ChatGPT Edu, or Microsoft Copilot Premium."

I can't help but feel like I failed somewhere along the way because I am working more hours now than I did before getting an "adult" job. The entire goal was to be able to stress less, work less. Instead...

I had to code and pronounce a time of death on a respiratory therapist colleague. There's a memorial plaque for her outside the emergency department to this day. I wrote and re-wrote my will. I will never forgive these ghouls trying to rewrite history and deny our experience.

RFK Jr said these words today on national television "There were ICUs that were empty all over the country including in New York at the height (of the pandemic)" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha You are a fucking idiot hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha <sobs silently>

A friend moved to a new state for a job and was laid off after just three months. He's had a hard time of things for the last few years—please help me raise funds to help him through an extremely bad time. 📚 www.gofundme.com/f/support-fo...

Here a compilation of stupid things library consultants have said to me in solidarity with library pals at Lambeth Libraries where genius consultants has decided that a qualified head of library service post isn't really essential.

Hey everyone, I have a couple of opportunities for folks who will be going to SPX: 1. I need a couple of more moderators. 2. I have a panel called Humanizing Medicine. If your work intersects with graphic medicine and you want to be on this panel, reply or DM me directly. Thanks!

"Identity documents like birth certificates or marriage licenses are free" claims a guy over and over and over despite repeatedly being told and shown with evidence they are wrong. What do you even do when people refuse to learn? When there's millions of them?

I get what people are trying to say with the whole "libraries are the original data center" or whatever but... no. Just no. I love you for opposing AI. But we aren't the same thing. And we don't need their language.

Is it normal in the rest of the world for politicians to malign entire religions within their country? Republicans do this about cities; Democrats often do it about rural areas. This division helps no one. And it is usually based on ignorance, fear, and bullshit.

Trump: "Look at the blue cities. What do they have in common? They're all dirty. They're filthy dirty. Their streets are dirty. Their streets smell. Their storefronts are broken. Their trees are all gross. Everything about the place is dirty. It's really all of them."

I think the worse-on-purpose story about how Pyrex stopped being borosilicate glass in favour of cheaper, worse, but passable alternatives is relevant. No one got a choice except the execs who could work out manufacturing to make borosilicate cheaper for more or just exploit branding and marketing.

I think this is fundamentally wrong but in an interesting way I will need to write about sometime. The key is a) consumers do not choose what is produced, or how, they choose between what is produced. This is a crucial difference

I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.
