atproto.nyc community day 2026

Join the atproto NYC community at Recurse Center for a full day of learning, building, and exploring what comes after the centralized web. Whether you’re an experienced developer, a creator exploring the Atmosphere, or simply curious about AT Protocol, you’re welcome. The day will include talks, hands-on workshops, participant-led unconference sessions, open hacking space, lightning talks, and an evening show-and-tell. Tickets are $25 and include a light breakfast, coffee, snacks, drinks, and pizza for dinner. A $50 sponsor ticket also helps someone else attend. If cost is a barrier, please DM @atproto.nyc - we don’t want finances to prevent anyone from joining. Read the full Community Day announcement at the link provided! We just implemented trai (try + AI) (github.com/binpash/trai), a Claude plugin that can help you isolate 🫷 changes done in your file system by tool calls (like pip install), and only commit them if they are intended ☺️. Try it out (pun intended) and share your feedback!

🟢 This month we held Breakpoint: An Evening of Projects and Demos! 10 Recursers and alums demo'ed their work, including games, camera-based apps that read your feelings and scramble your face, a NY shadow-henge finder, a Chinese idiom finder, a fractal painter, custom programming language, & more!

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge? It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.
