I'm hopefully crawling out of the drawing rut that affected me these past weeks. Spent the long weekend in the Alps for a watercolor workshop. Plein air and landscapes are both very out of my comfort zone... it's been interesting and fun!

Eliza McLamb had an apt analogy abt modern fandoms: Fans no longer treat creators as creators. Fans treat creators like stock options they’ve invested in; like they’re part owners of a creator’s work just by *being fans*, and therefore get a say in what creators make/how they act. And it sucks.

Shocked to see some artists saying that using ai slop as reference is ok. It's really fucking not. Not only are you still using the mashed-up uncredited work of the rest of us artists, but it degrades your whole visual library because it hallucinates. If you do this I do not respect you

A friend of mine did a machine learning project like ten years ago where they taught a program to detect invasive plants from drone images. We did not call it "AI", we called it machine learning. Calling it "AI" now is trying to legitimize chatbots and other bunk by roping them in with real science.
