In 2025, Jivani received 35,000 votes to Girard's 32,000. Yet, first-past-the-post means only Jivani speaks for Bowmanville-Oshawa North. Proportional representation means both Liberal and Conservative voters get a voice in the riding instead of one voice speaking on their behalf.
