So we have this stupid zombie system where the government keeps giving private developers cash injections to keep them limping along as an expensive housing middleman, instead of the government simply using that money to build housing itself. It's so convoluted and inefficient.
It is so absurd that politicians in Canada straight up refuse to acknowledge that for-profit housing is a broken system that has spent decades not delivering enough housing and now it can't even deliver profits.
Sounds good. Except the government spending $310 million on non-market housing and $2.4 billion on market housing is the opposite of what those numbers should be. Why is the government using billions in public money to prop up a for-profit housing market that can't make a profit anymore?

This groundswell of populist rage is legitimate, and it’s a completely predictable consequence of our economic system and how it has been managed for the last 50 years. The desire to push back against the smug arrogance and creepy impunity of elites is a defining force in politics today.
People are furious with ultra rich, powerful elites. The social contract has been broken. People who work for a wage or salary (not a dividend or bonus) just can’t make the household math make sense. And we’re looking up at the unlimited wealth of the 1% and we are pissed.
The screen act was worse, but KOSA is still a death knell for LGBTQ speech on the internet.

They think we're lying about not using it and just too "ashamed" to admit it. The idea that no, I do not in fact use AI for any of the things I do baffles them. If AI disappeared tomorrow, my life would get easier because I wouldn't have to constantly be watching for it's sneaky inclusion.

I think this shows polling is untrustworthy. I believe that the case for Stevens being “more electable” is … polling. This suggests to me that maybe we should back the candidate with a vision and fresh ideas who can win without corporate money against a PAC gorged candidate.

If Stevens had made it to the general election and lost in the fall, the argument would have been that the left cost the Dems the Senate. The left is pretty used to the media narrative always being “the left is at fault.”
