My works are fantasy, but they have some distinct horror elements, and some of them come from how much I was a bully-magnet as a kid and the age sheer isolation that brings- as well as falling into the mental trap of seeing the world in tropes and archetypes and fantastic narratives.

Making it personal. Q3: #HorrorWritersChat - In what ways has your own history (past) impacted or inspired your horror writing? Examples: giving a character your childhood trauma, reimagining an experience with a different ending.

Background: The outside of a small gothic mausoleum. The photo is taken from the corner, showing the arched entrance on the right and an arched window on the left side. Duotone filter: berry and black.

This is about the space fail company, which always makes me think of the AMAZING failson character Mark Beaks in the DuckTales reboot. A guy who grifts on a literally nonexistent product and HIRES A SABOTEUR to "steal" it. Who BOASTS about his phones "only" having a 50/50 chance to explode.

"So investors are once again on the verge of discovering your company's valuation is hyper-inflated, huh?"

can you guys retire "the right wing / chuds don't know what to do with trans men and forget they exist and will be So Confused by them!!!!" already. they are fully aware trans men exist and the thing they do to trans men is violently abuse and murder them

Let me put it this way: my first clearly trans-leaning thoughts happened when I was only SEVEN, and that was in total absence of outside influence or the awareness that trans folk existed. These feelings just kept intensifying until I transitioned at age THIRTY.

New study deflates right-wing claim that many trans teens later regret gender-affirming care www.lgbtqnation.com/2026/08/new-...

In 1986, contracting HIV meant you were going to die, usually slowly, painfully, and alone. Now it's a chronic illness like hypertension. In 1986, gay and lesbian couples couldn't have their relationships legally recognized and had to adopt elaborate legal workarounds.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

CripTax covers SO many angles. Shower stools. More soap and TP because you work from home. More pads for people with endometriosis or PCOS. Bus fare and the TIME it takes when you don't drive. OTC meds. Even having to replace things more often because you've got the constanr dropsies.

I like the concept of sufficiency being added here because it does open the door for a discussion of CripTax. CripTax is, basically, when it costs a Disabled person more to live at the same or equitable level of comfort as a non-Disabled person.

What actually counts as basic income? The most comprehensive definition — 7 tenets: universal, unconditional, uniform, individual, cash-based, periodic, sufficient. Read it here → basicincomeaction.org/about?tab=de...

you people don’t really give a fuck about fairness, you just don’t want your precious kids to be anywhere near our kids — trans kids — for fear of your kids realizing or pursuing any sort of personal actualization that isn’t just what you want for them — to replicate *you*. it’s fucking degenerate
