RTÉ Cult Classics: How No Disco reshaped Irish music TV
Watching clips of No Disco (1993-2003) today, at a time when our music choices are at the mercy of almighty streaming algorithms, I'm reminded of the dying art of curation.

Fans of the @tomhappens.bsky.social show on @newstalkfm.bsky.social might like to know that it's now available with improved audio quality on DAB 👌
A pleasant surprise today: I can pick up DAB+ radio stations in Waterford. FailteDAB have extended the DAB trial to the SE and South: good few channels, but the most notable are RTÉ Gold and Newstalk. No main RTÉ ones - or sadly, 8 Music. Decent enough reception: needs more power as a few dropouts.
Lovely piece by the awesome & inspiring Kate Butler on how she herself was inspired, plus the people who contributed to the new RTÉ2 radio documentary Control, which explores women pop producers’ technical work - Beyond the decks: The movement that opened up Irish electronic music jrnl.ie/7072791
Beyond the decks: The movement that opened up Irish electronic music
Ireland’s dance music scene looks very different today thanks to the community organisers and artists who helped to make it more inclusive.
