Die hard Cruyffian. Ex astrophysicist. QPR devotee, for my multiple sins. Single parent.

A friend's grandmother in Derry was stopped in her brand new car and the vehicle commandeered in the name of the Provi... "I will NOT get out, I have just paid f... ARE YOU PEGGY MCGUINNESS'S YOUNG LAD?!" "Erm, carry on Madam, enjoy your evening."

When Herschel reached EOM, 1 proposal for disposition was to impact it into the lunar south pole to get an estimation of how much water is there. Sadly, the option picked was to put it into a graveyard orbit: I liked the thought of it going out in a blaze of glory, doing a little science on the way

Things smack into the Moon every day, and have so for the last 4.5 billion years. Mostly by accident, very occasionally by design. Not a big deal: the failure by SpaceX to put their third stage into a graveyard orbit is far more of an issue.

got a text today from an unknown number asking me if I'd seen Christopher Nolan's Odyssey and if I had any thoughts on it ... it turned out to be from a friend's new number, but for a while I really thought it was a devious new scam targeted at heterosexual men

Mamdani: universal childcare; faster buses, 5 state-run grocery stores El Sayed: healthcare for all; corporate money out of politics Opposition to both made it about Israel. Even if people voted for multiple reasons, these were two massive referendums on "blind support for Israel" in the US.

That harm to women and girls in general is not taken seriously, combined with multiple high-profile men continuing to get passes based on power, talent, or activism with other causes, creates a very worrying landscape for women. Tolerance is still way too high. It needs to start actually mattering.

That "men should be allowed, without judgement or consequence, to do an amount of harm to women and girls that I personally deem acceptable" seems to be a genuine opinion still held by too many people in the year two thousand and twenty six is incredibly grim

This 'bubble' shite in pure Yank Brain binary thinking - that people can ONLY be 'libs' or 'conservatives' - woke or chuds - ignores nuance and those who can - for instance - both show empathy AND want to give Toni a slap around the chops.

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

Something similar in terms of impact to when the Saturn V S4Bs (the third stage of the Saturn) were deliberately impacted into the Moon? (They were done so in order to generate Moon quakes that would be picked up by the seismometers left by earlier Apollo flights)

That SpaceX Falcon 9 debris that will impact Einstein crater on 5th August: 4 metric tonnes mass 8,000 kph velocity 17 meter impact radius 100km altitude ejecta Equivalent to 3 tonnes of TNT

It's no surprise I disagreed with his opinions, but he was actually that bad at writing that it was painfully clear that anyone who liked his work simply agreed with those opinions - or hated the people they'd annoy - and thus found it perfectly delicious someone had finally typed them up.

Haters focusing on Liddle's violence toward his pregnant partner, his galloping racism, or his repeated defences of paedophilia, should remember to mention he was also one of the worst writers to ever do it. A calorie-free hack of the first water. Just absolute dogshit, back to front.
