Congrats to Dr. Katherine Fantauzzo @fantauzzolab.bsky.social on the SCGDB 2026 Marylou Buyse Distinguished Scientist in Craniofacial Research Award! Sponsored by Developmental Dynamics @devdynamics.bsky.social. Don't miss her award presentation - register for the meeting by Sept 8th at scgdb.org.

Excited to be at #2026SDB in Las Vegas! I’ll be presenting one of my postdoc projects during the poster session TODAY. If you’re interested in learning about protein-protein interactions in the contexts of PDGFRalpha signaling and mammalian facial development, make sure to stop by!

Happy Black History Month! I am sharing a permanent and continuously updated list of inspiring Black scientists! Check it out! Huge thank you to the folks who gathered this info. Thank you to @drstarbird.bsky.social and the rest of the Index Committee! www.wiley.com/en-us/resear...

Our work out in @devbiol.bsky.social, PDGFra is needed for 🧠 perivascular fibroblast development... ⬇️ perivascular fibroblast = ⬇️ perivascular macrophage...cross-talk? 👀 Led by Hannah Jones @hejcell.bsky.social w/ Kelsey Abrams, Sophia Kim, excited for more projects w/ @fantauzzolab.bsky.social!

Micrscopy images of cleared cerebral brain tissue showing penetrating blood vessels (white) in mice - magenta cells are perivascular fibroblasts and cyan cells are perivascular macrophages - in control mice, both cell types are near the vessel termini by postnatal day 10 but in 'cKO' mice that lack expression of a tyrosine kinase receptor PDGFRa in fibroblasts, both the fibroblasts and macrophages are only partially covering the vessels.
