The day we get predatory logarithms is the day the world truly goes to ln a handbasket.
Generative AI psychosis and delusion is a real thing, as is the degradation of analytical skills. This increasingly makes conversations difficult with those who have "converted" to using it. Along with the clickbait-ification of everything and the adoption of predatory logarithms. Stay vigilant.
Good call on Rush. The Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind and Powerslave, by Iron Maiden, is a strong contender.
What's the best three album run from a band? (the correct answer is Moving Pictures, Signals, and Grace Under Pressure by Rush, but I'm excited to learn second place)
When I worked as a freelance game designer and actor, I learned to measure the quality of my performances with one criterion: "Do the checks clear?" Solved a lot of anxiety issues. (Now that I write fiction, it's "Am I having fun doing this?" Cuz the checks, they ain't coming. 🤷♂️)
One thing I can confidently say is that more than a few other books have been canceled for AI use--including by established authors and non-fiction books--that have just not made the news yet.
👀 Fascinated by the "withdrawn by its agents" detail. So the AI use was so blatant that the agents due a huge payday preemptively withdrew the contract?
The State Department said it takes "full responsibility" for "hastily" altering and then presenting a map of Africa at a global AIDS conference that mislabeled every single country it highlighted. An analysis by Reuters found a watermark in the map image that suggests it was made with OpenAI.

I 100% have not changed a single goddamn thing about how I write here in the age of "AI." I write how I write. If the "AI" writes anything like how I write, it's because it stole from me. I'm gonna use any punctuation I like, and if it looks "AI"ish to you, you can go fuck yourself.
Authors and journalists are doing more first-person (hello 2010s blogging) and embracing "mistakes" in writing to prove they're not chatbots. There's even an “anti-Grammarly" app that leaves in typos and signs off "sent from my iPhone" to create more authenticity: www.wired.com/story/more-t...

The world is full of wonders. A few centuries ago the only way to get Axe Body Spray was to chop an artery.
I keep thinking about this, so I’m making it y’all’s problem too: The print runs of Jane Austen’s novels in her lifetime: Susan (later Northanger Abbey): copyright sold for £10 in 1803. Never published, copyright repurchased by her brother in 1816, published posthumously. (1/?)
Apropos to the Pride & Prejudice-palooza we’re having right now thanks to @trungles.com — it is also a weird specific fuckery to think that my next books will have starting print runs more than the first edition of P&P did in 1813 — and indeed ANY of Austen’s novels in her lifetime.
A spaceship landed in the park. A door dilated and a distraught alien emerged. "What's happened to the library? It's gone! The one thing your civilization had going-" "They moved to a new building," a passer-by said. "Don't you have ways of finding these things out?" "Yes. I ask at the library."

You suddenly get a narrator describing your life and there’s no way to turn it off - everyone can hear it. While shopping, at work, at home, with friends - the voice narrating your every move goes on. Who do you hope is the voice of this narrator?

Kermit for his simple joy and sense of responsibility. Swedish Chef for his love of cooking weird shit. And Animal because... reasons.
if you had to pick three muppets to represent you (not your three favorites) who would you pick? greater henson canon counts. I think I'd go Gonzo, Rizzo and Uncle Deadly.
What the fuck is wrong with the other 54 percent?
More than half of Americans disapprove of how the Supreme Court is doing its job, while 46 percent believe that the court is ruling on President Trump’s policies based on ideology rather than the law, according to a Washington Post-Ipsos poll.

Finally got around to reading @markwaddell.bsky.social 's Colin Gets Promoted and Dooms the World, that I purchased several months ago. A delightful romp where it takes a little time to figure out who to root for, who's evil and whether they are the same people. Great fun!
Dans la vie, mieux vaut agir de telle sorte que, lorsque quelqu'un s'écrie: "Est-ce qu'il va finir par crever, le gros &$?@! de pédo sénile," la Terre entière ne sache pas que c'est de vous que l'on parle.
I'm not posting Odyssey memes because one must be wary of GIFs bearing Greeks.
Translating RE-MISSION into French remains one of the most gratifying experiences of my career.
I was impressed with RE-MISSION, a game for young cancer patients to encourage them to pursue their treatments, with research indicating its success in doing so. From 2013-2017, he was Google's Chief Game Designer (and as far as I know, is the only person I've ever seen wearing Google Glasses).
Polymarket lets people bet on wildfires. Wildfires that those samepeople could easily set in order to win money on this illegal gambling site. Big Tech is organized crime.
yeah we’re gonna have to ban prediction markets
So if Napoleon had stuck it out for one more day at Waterloo... #worldcup
Says the guy who looks like Nosferatu's accountant (junior grade).
Miller: "It's not a coincidence that when you look at these violent Antifa demonstrations not one of the people that is demonstrating looks like a normal person. Not one looks normal. They're all deformed in some way in their appearance, in their dress, in their mannerism." #cdnpoli
That, and the fact that two markets (so far) that rejected my work have bought AI slop. At best, this makes me less likely to submit to these markets again. At worst, it makes me question whether they were *right* and my work really was worse than slop, in which case I shouldn't submit *anywhere*.
The short story grind has always been exhausting to me because the business is chaotic and the pay sucks. But the idea that I am not a human writer if I don’t have “story notes” and cannot produce “prior dated drafts” of my stories to prove I am not AI is enough of a hurdle to discourage me entirely
