#FEDisabilityPride Day Four - Free Day! There isn’t a hearing loss day so I made one myself and I am VERY EXCITED Kagetsu puts in his hearing aid and discovers some truths… Based on a true story….

“Don’t rush. Not after that.”

He stops the venting in its tracks. It slips out too easily when at his limit, as though the strength to keep up a dam is far too feeble against relentless waters. Sylvain deals with enough without becoming his secondary therapist alongside one of his carers.
He says he doesn’t mind.

How true can that be, when it seems like everybody else cares about Felix’s mere existence—that they duck their heads and avert their eyes to avoid looking at a disabled veteran of war?

“They’re despicable. I need to strengthen ground rules about this.”

“And what would be the point of that? I hardly doubt it’d get them to stop. It’s too ingrained in them, and I’m hardly special with it. There is a reason why war heroes only stay in the spotlight so long as they can function with their remaining limbs.”

Feeling very inspired by #FEDisabilityPride! It's criminal how little I've written Lysithea given how much I love her. This one's bittersweet, but though it addresses chronic conditions pretty frankly, it's not all angst. There's a lot of love learning to breathe.

"It's fine if you don't want me to bring it up. You just gotta let me know." Caspar's almost horizontal now, though one leg is still thrown up high enough to keep his rhythm going. It's the worst version of a metronome. Still preferable to the one Linhardt's father bought when he was in that phase where he really thought Linhardt had the potential for being a proper private school student. It brings Linhardt no small amount of joy to not remember the fingerings for at least half the notes on a clarinet. Someday he will recall none of them.

"I know." The book closes of its own will. At least, that's what Linhardt would prefer to believe. That would mean he made no movement, exerted no effort, and certainly did not experience an unconscious tremor in his right hand that a well-meaning but very irritating psychologist might categorize as a flinch. "It's not you."
