One of my all-time favorite rules, from Pea Ridge (1980). The designer's great-great-grandfather fought in the battle, and if his unit takes damage you roll a die to see if he survives. If he dies, the designer is never born, and the game doesn't exist, and so automatically ends in a draw.

One of my favorite things Peter Cullen did was this very specific Toonami bumper So when Cartoon Network acquired Hamtaro, they didn't know what to do with it so they shoved this wholesome show onto Toonami, and Toonami clearly didn't know how to advertise it Peter's voice just makes it funnier

The AAA industry has a huge problem with jumping onto the newest, hottest trend for a new project that won't be released until like 8 years later, and the trend has already died Like that recent crop of catastrophically-failed hero shooters that started dev when Overwatch became huge

I wouldn't say it's a concerted ploy, so much as "games that started their development when generative AI first started becoming widely available and before the backlash started, are now reaching the point in their dev cycles where they would be revealed" But the point still stands

FYI the HUGE number of AI slop at GamesCom's opening night live is not a sign that the industry has normalized AI. It's a ploy to make you believe that. These games are all by the same 3 or 4 publishers. This is a concerted effort to make consumers accept AI.

There’s a guy on YouTube who does transparent cross sections of things to show fluid dynamics in devices-sort of a “how it works” He accidentally made a maze solver by making a transparent maze and then filling it with water The dead ends make natural air pockets so the water goes to the solution!
