For comparison, Suez fees are around 0.3% with Panama even lower at 0,1%. And these offer canal infrastructure etc. Insurance fees, even in active war zones are usually topped at 1.5% because thats is considered prohibitively expensive

"Making fees voluntary, at least nominally, could be a way out of the impasse, although an implied threat of Iranian attacks could mean shippers would be unlikely to risk transit without paying."
Germany should deploy Taurus missile unit in Ukraine to strike North Korean missile unit in Russia. This is WW III anyway. The sooner Europe acts decisively the better.

But really it just feels like: having a consistent moral code that demands taking Lessers and Outgroup seriously is impossible for populist right.

A lot of people still do not understand what the main problem is with Russia + Iran + North Korea (+ China, of course). It's East versus West. Clash of civilizations. The West is under attack by a gigantic hostile system that has a goal to inflict a strategic defeat on the West.

The technology to cut ~70% of emissions is already cost-competitive. The bottleneck is permitting, grid interconnections, transformer and turbine supply chains, and capital allocation. Optimizing global industrial logistics and grid buildout is solvable.
