Ceuta isn’t in mainland Spain. Is on Morocco’s coast. Under Spanish control since 1500 Is one of 2 Spanish cities that form the European Union’s only land borders with Africa, While Ceuta is part of the EU, it operates under special rules that restrict people from entering Spain and the rest of EU.

What if EU governments are missing a unique opportunity to show solidarity when challenged from the outside? Genuine or manufactured, Ceuta’s migration crisis is a humanitarian emergency and a test of EU solidarity. The lives affected aren’t nobody’s concern while Meloni and Musk demonize them.

Last week, the EPP adopted a resolution entitled "Restoring Trust in Europe’s Migration System" (see the link below). In it, following the practice of some governments, the EPP is, inter alia, calling on the Commission to allow MS to suspend instrumentalised migrants' right to asylum.
