You guys I am awful at writing fictional prose. It seems like it requires totally different mental machinery from business prose.

@bcantrill.bsky.social I feel like in a lot of ways @oxide.computer and @bunjsbot.eurosky.social are *extremely* different companies, but reading about the Bun Zig -> Rust rewrite makes me think about a lot of the reasons you folks are Rustaceans as detailed in the Oxide and Friends podcast.
OK ATProto's #python SDK is pretty neat. As is ATProto itself. I rather enjoy the way each skeet is broken out into objects representing its entire contents. Feels like a clean way to implement it.
Nice episode! reminded me of an email i got years ago about an tetris clone i did 20+ years ago. Using an llm he managed to get it working. He documented it here www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jpJ... turns out he is documenting old tetris clones, has 800+ videos of clones on his youtube channel! :)

Last week @bcantrill.bsky.social and I talked about the process of restoring a software project--BattleTris--untouched and unbuilt in over 20 years! How did LLMs help restore code Bryan started in the mid-1990s and what does that teach us about developing and maintaining software in the future?

You should read this book. It is not light fluffy popcorn / beach reading, but it is edifying and enlightening. It opens a window into the Russian soul by looking through the lens of its long suffering women.

You guys I am *still* struggling with this platform. I've been getting a bunch of chat messages, each with a very similar intro: "Hi, making new friends is always a good thing". Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? I'm used to the pornbots but this is just ODD.
@hankgreen.bsky.social I was watching your videos yesterday & it occurred to me: Trust on the internet is a funny thing. Another Youtube Science Guy really let his viewers down by effectively making a commercial and beyond that lying. Is there a metric I can use as a viewer for re-building trust?
@popey.me Not gonna discuss this on Mastodon because the anti-AI storm troopers will have a hemorrhage, but I've been really (carefully!) enjoying Openclaw too! The latest thing it did for me that I really enjoyed was I had it audition a new blogging system for my blogs.

Does anyone know anyone at "DevEnthusiast"? I'd love to let a human there know that harvesting my Github profile and then spamming me with "YOU'VE BEEN SELECTED" is the surest path to being marked spam because this *is* UCE.
"In the place of problem-solving technology, companies have jumped on successive bandwagons like NFTs, the metaverse, and LLMs. What these all have in common is that they are not built to really solve a market problem. They are built to make VCs and companies rich." Read more: buff.ly/Yu2AUFy
At first I thought "Skeets" - what they call posts here was a crappy choice of name. Now I think it's brilliant. Only problem is you have to actually be familiar with skeet shooting for any of the jokes to be funny. (Working on building a Bluesky #CLI application. I may call it 'claypigeon' :)
New York shouldn't rush a censorship mandate for 3D printers into the budget. Many experts have already warned that it won't work. It's faulty surveillance infrastructure smuggled in a budget bill. NYers, act now! www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

@randyshoup.bsky.social @bcantrill.bsky.social Really enjoyed the 0XF "50 Years of SV" episode! There ARE places like SV, but obviously it's a sibling relationship rather than being a clone. I've been working in Boston tech for 35 years - the spirit here is more academic.
I'm having a little difficulty understanding how this image can be generated by such a short BASIC program, even though I know it's a raytracer and the surfaces are extremely simple and encoded as a handful of numeric coordinates and properties. I need to read up on BBC BASIC drawing commands.
