When I was a union organizer I was taught to just win the union, and to not focus on other issues with the workers. Things like racism and misogyny and homophobia and capitalism. But if we're not connecting EACH struggle to EVERY struggle, are we really building a new and better world?

Yday I was listening to the brilliant Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, from 1978. Douglas Adams saw it all: the awful fake chattiness & uselessness of ChatGPT, Alexa etc & how over-confident the algorithm designers are. “Genuine People Personalities” was a joke, but it should have been a warning.

We haven't even had a Monday this year yet...

After explaining my name and pronouns to the nurse practitioner yesterday, I opened an email from her office today to find this. I said I often sign emails "5L" and maybe that would help the staff. But it has totally replaced my name and the lower-case L looks like an I. Call me Five Eye.
