Took a devil's nap and woke up with a completely fucked neck.
Back to School Tom

He/Him. Sometimes guest host on the Greatest Movie EVER! Podcast. Often shitposter.
I am much better at guessing the @discotekmedia.bsky.social clues after their announcements.
So now that I am back, my laundry is mostly done, and my media edges closer to being caught up I am going to try to read a manga series a month and tag it #monthlymanga. It will either be a full series or getting current with something I am already getting that hasn't finished.
Money out of politics. Money in your pocket. Medicare for All. Michigan... We won. I am so proud to be your Democratic nominee for US Senate. Let's win in November.
So the most stolen valor thing I can say about me is Otakon is literally the only time of the year I wear a hat. It’s a good hat but I wear it because I am short so people can see me in a crowd.
An update on this: We’ve now purchased April 1986, October 1986 (credit to @andysislands.bsky.social for the find), and December 1986. Hopefully it doesn’t take long to find the remaining 6 issues!
These are the exact issues of Monthly Asuka @mangamavericks.bsky.social is looking for for Sword of Paros. If you have a lead let them know!
So @miketoole.com how was the beer I left for you?
God I have like twenty episodes of anime to watch in the next week and seven hours of wrestling before Wednesday.
These are the exact issues of Monthly Asuka @mangamavericks.bsky.social is looking for for Sword of Paros. If you have a lead let them know!
@mangamavericks.bsky.social literally asked at their panel that if anyone happens to have issues of Monthly Asuka from 1986 & 1987 to let them know, as they'd like to get as many color pages for Sword of Paros as possible.
So the weirdest thing about this weekend is somehow picking up the reputation of a Prince of Tennis guy by accident. Did I watch most of the original show? Sure. Did I import the Nintendo DS game Prince of Tennis 2005 Crystal Drive? Sure, who didn’t though? All I’m saying is hold your horses a bit.
God, knowing I’m going to start watching this janky ass show in the next three months.
We're selling @redbardiscool.bsky.social on Weiss Kreuz
Generative AI could not make the fever dream that is the Prince of Tennis.
I think I have a new favorite Instagram account: this guy collects trading cards of the worst people he can find. Criminals, creeps, cheaters, scumbags. www.instagram.com/scumbagcardc...
Usually op eds are at least a little subtle when they’re bait.
This may sound radical but "games are shit" is actually the median opinion of every Gamer.
Sayyyyy, you know what’s also on sale at Media OCD right now??? Master of Martial Hearts! What a show goddamn. *adds Lionel Hutz punctuation* What? A show? Goddamn….
Tired: “lol, Discotek keeps rescuing Bandai shows. Next thing they’re getting is Brain Powerd, rofl” Wired: “Discotek should license the Tomino masterpiece Brain Powerd.” Inspired: “Discotek should license the Kawamori masterpiece Earth Girl Arjuna.”
If you get a chance to attend a @mangamavericks.bsky.social panel you absolutely should! They gave a super candid talk about how they contact artists and the process of translating and printing their books (which focus on indies, LGBTQ+, classics, and shojo). If you like Discotek, it's your vibe!
Met up with a weirdo on the train who kept saying "criss cross". I think he wants me to kill someone.
So my main takeaway of my first con in my 40s is that I am friendly with some of the most important people in the domestic anime and manga industry and that kind of rules. I know so many cool people doing absolutely rad shit in both the fandom space and the pro space, both production and news.
Wonderful seeing everyone at Otakon this year. Had an absolutely amazing time with old friends and new. Tomorrow the 12 hour drive home and the start of the school year.
Got called gay on the streets of DC but guy also complimented me on my hat so who can say?
If you do a bit, every year, for only yourself, is it even a bit?
An Otakon tradition like no other!
