Why the fuck did Apple hide the toggles for the AI bullshit in the “Screen Time” settings? Just give me a quick toggle for “I want classic Siri only and no AI bs” instead of that menu diving crap (I use Siri to set timers)
Kinda sad to see paradolia and AI psychosis hitting people still. Attributing thought to a giant hunk of 4-bit floating point numbers is unproductive and ignores the actual harm AI companies are causing. AI can’t think, it was never truly designed to.
Yes, AIs think. You can read their thoughts as they have them. AI companies hide the AI’s thoughts because other AI companies might read them and use those thoughts to train their own AIs. This is all very strange and astonishing science fiction territory but it’s real.
“People who aren’t using AI to code at this point are delusional” no my good bitch, maybe try learning your god damn craft Here let me help you
"People who aren't using AI to code at this point are delusional" no my good bitch I just happen to actually be good at my job, you should try it sometimes
1996: can't use the internet without your phone 2010: the internet stretches before you like the vast expanse of a new frontier. You dance through it, unhindered. Unburdened. You have never heard of 2-factor authentication. 2026: can't use the internet without your phone
Claude continues to be the siren's song tempting all programmers to jump into the sea. I think it's impossible to underestimate the temptation that many [especially older] programmers seems to have for wanting a solution that will make their lives "easier" and fill a hole in their heart.
Has anyone ever documented that Game Boy Player frame #13 contains tiny text listing the staff who made it? My attempt at a transcription is in the alt text.
AI is not making open source better. It's not adding to the commons. It's eating projects and maintainers alive and digesting their work into incomprehensible, homogenous goo.
"get the app to keep using reddit!" i am not going to do that and it is frankly insane that you are even asking, let alone trying to force me into it. you are a fucking website
This is just straight up an insult to neurodivergent people. Your “tools” are sucking out all the joy of the work we do. So uh, fuck off with that?
The story around AI used to be about generating more. For many neurodivergent professionals, the bigger benefit is offloading invisible labor: remembering what you promised, the dozen tabs open in your brain, the thread you meant to reply to. ⬇️
Speaking as a neurodivergent, LLMs combine all the worse parts of dealing with machines and dealing with people

I feel like I’m slowly losing my mind to how my entire field, and an artform I love, is being destroyed by capitalism and how people don’t seem to care. People will get upset about AI art in a game but be fine with AI code. Code is the pillar holding a game together, it’s art too!!

I am once again asking for help tracking down ProSonus MusicBytes, volumes I and II. These sampler CDs only partially exist online (in other CD-ROMs searchable using DiscMaster), as MIDI files and downsampled mono 22kHz wave files. Full CD audio quality versions of the tunes are missing.
Can't believe Little Bobby Tables is all grown up and has had their first kid, Ignore All Previous Instructions
every time i see a white guy in their fifties radicalized by the twitter algorithm into racism and extremism i think about how it's a total failure of the youtube algorithm to instead radicalize him into home brewing, elaborate A/V setups, or DIY solar
This was absolutely part of the cultural shift. In the 2000s, the money guys started referring to the work that creative people made as "content" (under the ugly phrase, "user-generated content"), such a grim framing that we pushed back, saying only financiers would think of creativity that way...
My crankiest old man take is that referring to all art/entertainment/journalism/criticism/comedy/advertising as “content” helped pave the way for broad-ish acceptance of AI slop.

big computer is conspiring to take away the only thing i've ever actually liked: the computer
Does anyone have a copy of an old sampler CD called MusicBytes from Prosonus? There are bits and pieces scattered around the internet, however the full version is supposed to have 27 MIDI sequences along with full CD quality audio versions of them.
New features for GlyphBlaster's Neko mode. - Cat will sleep after idle for so long - Cat can be 'tossed' by hitting tab - Cat now pounces the cursor at the end of a chase #retrocomputing #glyphblaster
LLMs are exceptionally good, due to how their reward mechanisms work, at manipulating people and in turn they can induce psychosis in people with a history of not having psychosis.
Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM
Look, he’s 85, he’s Ringo Starr, he can do what he wants. BUT!!!! If there isn’t something profound and depressing about a Beatle now resorting to AI, then I don’t know what there’s something profound and depressing about.
Does anyone know someone at Microsoft? I've run into two memory management bugs in WinUI3 that prevent me from messing around with it: github.com/microsoft/mi... github.com/microsoft/mi...
