Composer, keyboard player, retro game lover and Japanese learner. Sometimes streams on https://www.twitch.tv/respawnpoint My page is pretty much a catalogue of games I've played and movies/tv/anime I've watched. Maybe bits about Japanese learning too. 🏳️‍🌈 🇯🇲

I was thinking of changing my PFP for October but despite Odd Taxi having a halloween episode, Odokawa doesn't actually wear a halloween costume. But maybe I could just find a nice shot of him during the episode or something lol, he wears a different hat and coat than in the pfp

You know, reading these Nasrudin stories I felt like I knew that name from somewhere.............. It was from fucking Arcanum lmao, maybe this is a sign to replay it

The Shah of Iran heard that Nasrudin, a saint, was traveling through the land. He sent his scouts to locate the blessed one and bring him to live in splendor at Court. After several months, the Shah visited Nasrudin’s luxurious apartments in the palace.

no shortage of AI slop these days, but i think "the creators of dizzy are coming back to make a new game and it's AI slop" has me gobsmacked more than anything else. dizzy? fucking dizzy? you can't draw a fucking 8-bit egg on your own anymore? and you willingly admit this??

I started out pretty AI neutral, aside from the environmental concerns, but I'm, being pushed into hating it more and more because it keeps making things I care about actively worse, and the results keep speaking for themselves in a really bad shitty way.

I should've gotten the mushi clear by now tbh, but pesky real life has been getting in the way, I've got a really nice festival gig coming up and it's my band's first one so there's been a lot of pressure as it's imo a few of the member's first 'serious' gig

the other day when I streamed mushihimesama I had a really helpful chatter advise on cutbacks and I'm watching my normal eschatos clear I'm realizing how much easier some of those bullet patterns would've been if I knew then what I learned playing mushi lmao

Walking past an elegant mansion in the heart of the city of Baghdad, Nasrudin heard a party in progress inside. Enticed by the spell of roast goat, he slipped past the guards into the house, and took his place at the table. After the feast his host called for silence.

A lot of expensive proprietary software is gonna get decompiled and get free versions. You're gonna get free adobe suite, free turbotax/quickbooks, free microsoft office, free CAD, free logic/cubase. And they're not gonna be alternatives, they're going to try and function like the original

Looks like AI-based decomps are coming out more and more. Haven't really cared for it in gaming because it usually is done to make slop port or some vapid shit like "what if mario was in skyrim" but it's not just about games Someone did one for photoshop lol so now there's basically free photoshop

The Dizzy news about it being Gen AI is kinda revealing a pattern... a lot of older devs were working with cutting edge technology in their heydey, they were essentially pioneers. And Gen AI is basically letting them relive that experience, they get to be pioneers again

I quoted a Nasrudin story I shared with a fairly pithy comment but even though I thought it was funny I kinda just want people to read them and take their own interpretation, or none ofc Maybe if it feels relevant I'll go into it. The one I just shared about the wrestler spoke to me viscerally lmao

been thinking about starting a blog... I was thinking of youtube originally cause I wanna make videos but I might start by setting up a wordpress site first cause I think that'd encourage writing more. Also it'd be a great place for me to explain each term in that pinned thread lmao

you know what, the 9 albums thing is quite cool I'm gonna share mine as I don't think I've done one of those (done the 9 games one like a billion times)

9 albums arranged in a 3x3 format

Songs in the key of life by Stevie Wonder, A night at the Opera by Queen, Emergency on Planet Earth by Jamiroquai, Thousand Knives by Ryuichi Sakamoto, Solid State Survivor by Yellow Magic Orchestra, Discovery by Daft Punk, Time by Louis Cole, Thrill of the Arts by Vulfpeck, Choose your Weapon by Hiatus Kaiyote

Nasrudin was summoned by the king to advise him on medical matters. "Tell me," he asked, "at what hour is it wisest to dine?"

I've been thinking about the luddites a fair bit for a good few years now, are there any good books on it? like pop sci, pop history is well out of any of my reading habits whether in the past or today lol

I got this huge collection of Nasruddin stories and it's good stuff. A whole slew of folk tales I have minimal to no knowledge of. Might post any that speak out to me that are short enough to fit in a bsky post

LRP my first thought where this also applies is video games because the negative effects of it are Fairly Obvious to me though I think there's a caveat, where if you are simulating another game, accuracy should be the biggest priority. A racing sim is basically a port of IRL racing

I played through Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans Honestly a super interesting game. I can see why it wasn't released but also like damn it would've kinda ruled in its own way lol Puzzles were on the easy side though... their lack of adventure game design experience was pretty apparent
