LittleKuriboh@littlekuriboh.bsky.social · 6d agoApparently the CEO of Hoyo has stated that in the next couple years HoYoverse will “play one of the most pivotal roles in China’s LLM-AI” I straight up don’t know any other game developer making this much of a spectacle out of its AI use. I understand the cultural difference. It’s still alarming.

This is why I hate "just a tool" so so so much. You can make a calculator without access to every calculation. You can make photoshop without access to all photos. Someone show me a genai tool that didn't require all of our labour in its production. It's plagiarism software.

Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1
They fired so many artists over this too. People who helped make the game iconic were tossed out on the street because the Slop Faucet could do it "decent enough". If you still play Fortnite, you're funding the hyper-acceleration of AI replacing Artists in Gaming

You have to get comfortable with the fact that for some partisans it's NEVER "the right time" to confront their favored politician. Can't do it during primaries, nor during the general election, nor in the first year of their term, nor in year 3... etc...
