cis people think they can find some sort of carbon offset for consuming this trash and funding the campaign against us and it has to be made clear that no such weird trick exists. no piracy. no libraries. no donations in kind. you cannot fool the beast and you cannot buy indulgences from its victims

I want to emphasize: When I say "no" I mean no. If you're buying like, merch from some seller whose money doesn't go directly to JKR, you're still supporting Harry Potter. Every cis person who gives themselves permission to still consume this IP makes it appear okay to others. Stop it. Cut it out.

if it wasn't johnny depp then the concept of "scrooge origin story but he's already old" would just be really funny. i still wouldn't see it but i'd at least be laughing instead of booing.

If we're speaking about the process by which his parents chose his name, before they knew his gender, they knew his last name would be Scrooge, so in a way he was Scrooge before he was Ebenezer. But once he was born, yes, he was Scrooge and Ebenezer at the exact same time.

Ontario jails are using an AI tool that claims to predict prisoners’ behaviour. And it’s disproportionately placing Black prisoners in maximum security. An investigation by @desmondcole.bsky.social reveals the province knew the tool would discriminate against Black people—and used it anyway.

Reminder that Carney has cut funding for Natural Resources Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Indigenous and Northern Affairs, and Indigenous Services. And he has rolled back climate protections, abandoned emissions targets, and is building more pipelines.

Carney:

"The wildfire situation has escalated significantly over the last three weeks across the country, and particularly in Northwestern Ontario.

Thousands of people have been forced to evacuate their communities, not knowing if their homes will survive.

On behalf of Canadians, I want to thank the brave firefighters, first responders, Indigenous and local leaders who are working tirelessly to keep people safe.

Our government is in close contact with provincial, municipal, and Indigenous partners and stands ready to provide any additional support as needed."
