And a reminder that CITATION MATTERS. Journals like AGS rely on citation metrics to seek funding. Individuals (hi) use citations of our work (by journalists, creators, etc) as "evidence of reputation" that weighs in promotion & tenure.

Just a week until Animal Gothic with @laurenicullen.bsky.social🐺 🗣️ Dr Lauren Cullen 📅 Thurs 28th May 🕕6-7.30pm (GMT) Lauren is a Postdoctoral Fellow at University British Columbia, Canada. Her research looks at the intersection of 19th-century culture, animal studies & environmental humanities.

A dark, cinematic poster for GOTHICA Presents: Cinematic Indigenous Gothic featuring James Rose. The design features a dripping red liquid at the top, a misty forest beneath a glowing full moon, and a cabin with light in its window. In the foreground, a person with long dark hair aims a bow and arrow, wearing textured earth-stone clothing. A black wolf with glowing eyes, a raven in flight, and shadowy human figures appear in the fog. Event details for a Zoom session on Thursday  30 April (6.00 pm – 7.30 pm BST) are displayed at the bottom with contact information for @GOTHICA_UOB and UOBGOTHICA@GMAIL.COM

Exciting moment tonight at a horror writers’ panel where it struck me that the “you have to set your story in the past cos of mobile phones” era is over, cos now your phone will lie to you, mislead you, freak you out, let you down, and do all sorts of sinister uncanny shit.

I had an amazing time at Nightmare26 today! Each of the panels has given me something new to go away with, and some amazing papers to revisit when home. Plus the joy of presenting a paper on P.T, followed by watching people learning of and playing the game for the first time was unmatched. #horror

Had one of those moments where you rediscover a game you had forgotten the name of recently. 7 Days to End with You is an interesting language learning game with a twist or two, currently reduced on Steam and very worth the price! #gaming
