The 6 largest oil companies will collectively rake in $45B in profits in the second quarter of 2026 — nearly double what they made in the first quarter. Meanwhile, Canada, France, and Spain are battling record-breaking wildfires spurred by the climate crisis. Big Oil profits while the world burns.

Shell just announced £7billion in profits for just 3 months. This is largely driven by rocketing oil prices due to the Iran conflict. People are dying and millions face rising bills around the world as Shell rakes in vast profits.   These are the profits of misery.

When he was Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham signed up to ambitious climate neutral commitments. Now he is Prime Minister, the climate experts who helped draft that pledge are calling on him not to backtrack by approving new oil drilling at Jackdaw or Rosebank. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Wildfires sweep Scotland, even the very centre of Edinburgh, yet political debate is dominated by calls for more oil and gas from the North Sea. It’s insanity - because more drilling won’t lower prices. That claim is a lie. We’re like Nero fiddling while Rome burns In @heraldscotland.bsky.social

It is the same oil companies who are causing record breaking heatwaves and soaring home energy bills. Yet some politicians want to undermine the transition to renewables by demanding new drilling in the North Sea. The new Prime Minister must reject Rosebank & Jackdaw once and for all.

Been on the apocalypse beat this week. Surveying English and Welsh fire services, we count 250+ significant wildfires in the first two weeks of July, destroying thousands of acres: www.thetimes.com/uk/environme...

BREAKING 🚨: reports suggest Andy Burnham could approve new oil and gas fields, including Rosebank. Is he REALLY going to cave into the demands of the profiteering oil giants and Trump? Or is he going to stand with people facing soaring bills and a worsening climate crisis?

The May and June heatwaves killed 2,700 people in England and Wales, new data suggests. This is a damning indictment of the climate crisis but also a warning the U.K. needs an urgent plan to keep disabled and older people and young children safe in extreme heat. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
