Tomorrow is primary election day here. As is our tradition, my husband and I are going through the ballot and the voters' pamphlet and making snide comments to each other about some of the statements while filling in our ballot.

I recently signed a bill from Sen. Slatter preventing landlords from prohibiting safe, portable air conditioners. The law took effect this summer. This helps our housing laws keep up with heat waves that are getting hotter and longer.

Tenants have the right to install AC units under this new WA law

The law does not require landlords to install air conditioning units. But landlords in most cases can't prohibit tenants from installing the units.
