I always repurpose old phones, they're especially useful at home for playing media or checking socials, so my active phone's battery lasts the day. I wanted an app that's discontinued. It still works but just won't install on modern phones. ⬇️

I'm looking for a door lock sensor. It seems like they're all geared towards if the door is open/closed. I want to know if a PVC door is locked by the key. Yale's SensCheck app has a poor rating with crashes + signed out & can't sign in problems. So no. Ideally for HomeAssistant but not essential.
Heading home today. We always love going to see my in-laws. It's so much more peaceful. ... ⬇️

Someone start a party called Rebrand. The policies are basically Reform's, but without the window dressing. "We at Rebrand believe firmly in asset stripping the NHS, removing taxes on the super-rich, and destroying the environment."

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you cannot deny a service dog entry except under very narrow circumstances, and trying makes you a fucking asshole. It’s also really telling that these businesses are making a move now. They know lawsuits are dangerous for plaintiffs these days.
And never gets security updates. Smart devices are a nightmare for network security. How often is your smart TV updated? Why is it sending screenshots, or worse photos of you, back to manufacturers every second? I was stunned too. My 25yo dishwasher has a mechanical dial, it's never failed.
I don't want a "Smart Fridge" that orders milk for me. I want a fridge that lasts 25 years and doesn't have a privacy policy that allows it to share my late-night snacking habits with my health insurance provider.
Far too many are suffering at the end of life because social and palliative care is a mess. Assisted dying wont fix that
BREAKING: Andy Burnham says the assisted dying debate should wait until after palliative care and social care have been fixed. “It’s very challenging to introduce that wider debate” when the systems are in crisis, he says. ‘Not now’, in other words.
Not just due to pain directly either. Pain wears you out, certainly CRPS does. Sometimes it's the lack of energy, or recovery times because you did something everyday else take for granted. It's almost always the root of it but not knowing how much pain you'll be in tomorrow weighs a heavy toll too.
“One of the most frustrating aspects of living with #ChronicPain is not being able to achieve what we’d like to… we tend to berate ourselves… We put pressure on ourselves to do more than we’re capable of. That pressure turns to stress.” https://buff.ly/VnW7NNj @despitepain.bsky

I coach kids football. My team hasn't won a game all season. That's because I have an inclusive team and take all kids who want to play. I'm oversubscribed. I look down on coaches whose teams win because they kicked out all the weaker children.
