Foodie, geeky nerd, neurospicy, liberal Canadian just trying to get through the 2020's. #COVIDISAIRBORNE

She was there. Unlike that narcissistic, bloated, spray-tanned piece of excrement, she was actually there: Showing empathy. Transcending party. Helping. Leading. No AI slop. No asinine stories. No bullshit. Never forget...

Oh, City of Fredericton...no one is going to detour an extra 15-20 minutes and THROUGH a school zone for one week just to avoid a school zone that has been our detour all summer. I get what they want and why, but it's a city road, and there's no reason not to use the roads that are available.

Add ADHD and Long COVID on top of that and it's a wonder I can function at all, let alone at a mentally taxing full-time job as the sole breadwinner. I can't even explain to anyone just how hard it is, especially when I 'look' functional.

What the menopause gap in the labour force is costing Canada. Stigma, silence and unmanaged symptoms are taking an immense toll on women – and on the economy, by @taviagrant.bsky.social www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic... via @theglobeandmail.com

Had an early morning rescue mission today. Looked out the window, had a WTAF moment and then had to rescue them. Not exactly sure how long they were in there but they're out and long gone. Going to have to take the whole thing down so it doesn't happen again, or keep the ladder in 🙄

Two small raccoons sitting in an empty above ground pool that has a few inches of rainwater in it. Two small raccoons sitting in the bottom of an empty aboveground pool about to use a ladder to get out.

On 9/11 2001, the US closed its airspace after unfathomable terrorist attacks. Flights bound for the US were forced to divert, with many opting to land in Canada. Under Operation Yellow Ribbon, the small town of Gander, NL and the surrounding communities accepted 38 planes. buff.ly/Ugvm4vL

NEW Heritage Minute: Gander and 9/11

“There’s only one thing to do here – we’re going to ask people to open their doors.” It was the day in which Gander and surrounding communities welcomed the world to its doorstep. *Join our mailing…

The argument that Donald Trump invaded Canada today is much more compelling than many realize. The border between Canada and the United States runs through the middle of Lake Ontario. By claiming to have the power to rename the entire lake, Trump is claiming the lake. That's invasion by declaration.

OK, What the actual HELL is this week of stupid??? At least the Butcher of Bosnia is gone to hell, but the rest is heartbreaking :( Optimus was my favourite character through the years of Transformers (even though not a fan of the movies) because of Peter Cullen.

So we’re losing ALL our old heroes this week, okay then 🫤 I didn’t care for the TRANSFORMERS movies but keeping Cullen’s wonderfully authoritative voice was the smartest they did ⭐️

So I don't derail the entire thread....but had an idea! These types of things would be GREAT for carshare programs. When you need a car/truck in town, but don't need a huge SUV/Truck. I own a SUV (we don't live near public transit and drive kids to school), but it's parked 50% of the time.

THESE. Electric versions of the mini trucks that are sold and used everywhere but in the west. In city deliveries, perfect bed for that use. This and the electric city car. Whole lifespan in the city. No highways, just puttering at 50 to 60km/hr.

This morning, the Coldstream Guards at Buckingham Palace performed a tribute to Dolly Parton. The last time I remember the guards at the palace honoring the memory of an American entertainer was when they paid tribute to Aretha Franklin after she passed away.
