the reason why we gotta be so critical of genAI usage is because the second you start letting shit slide through the more socially accepted it will become. sure, art theft and human ethics, but most importantly we are poisoning the earth with data centers because we as a society have become lazy.
I am so bad at this whole social media thing tbh like wtf i keep forgetting it exists and then i realise i haven't posted in 4 billion years and then i don't remember how it all works
It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.
I hope those load bearing followers know how much they mean to artists. Regulars, esp regular commenters that engage your work and story do not go without notice and are to be cherished. It's esp why I try to reply to let them know! (and why I wish I could keep track of any I've missed replying to )

Never download and run a program someone sends you. Even if you know them. Even if you know they make programs. If you really think you need to run it, give them a quick call so they can tell you in their own voice.
nic.tattoos@nicterhorst.com · 2mo agoAs I see more friends fall victim to this discord hack, I remind people that if someone asks you to download their new game out of the blue, right now, because it will only take a couple minutes, after "catching up" for a minute It's a hack, and they will take over once you download that file.

Yup, it's not just about the art. It's about clean drinking water, noise pollution, power shortages, the water supply as a whole. It's about scams and harm to real people and children. Genai is everything bad all wrapped in one and proclaimed as "advancement" by the wealthy and the foolish.

Staff being able to apply an adult content label to an entire acct overrides the label function and is not a good thing. Do you know how many newcomers don't know that their default moderation settings hide us from view completely and they just assume we don't exist? This is shoving us out of sight
