TIL: You can make your pixel art into svgs in Aseprite? So I guess I'm attempting to make pixel art now to use for my site. Also cue the absolute panic of trying to figure out how to make icons I like in pixel art.

I went to Mardens last weekend and found the cutest fabric that was five dollars for the rest of the roll . Almost done making a shirt from it, just need to hem it (my mortal enemy), but enjoy this WIP pic!

A shirt in progress, laid out on the floor and having the sides pinned together. It’s a wrapped top, based on the Dartmouth pattern. The shirt is black, with white images of moons, stars and suns. This thing feels like butter, and I am pretty sure it is 100 percent polyester.

Every once in awhile my friend and I fantasize about opening a geeky craft store/cafe with space to learn how to sew/paint miniatures/crochet/knit/whatever. Somewhere people could go for community and creativity. Also must have apparel fabric options because it’s been hard since Joanne closed.

I did a lot of CSS consultancy for various sized organisations — from huge multinational corporations to smaller startups. What do you think the most common downfall in CSS codebases were across nearly all of these organisations? Framework choices? Sass? Less? CSS-in-JS? No, it’s layout and spacing.

we don't talk enough about how cool the color-interpolation-method is in CSS gradients all of these slices have the same gradient: linear-gradient(#00ffff 0%, #ff00ff 100%) each one is just using a different colour interpolation

A demonstration of the same gradient defined as a light blue to fuschia gradient, with 5 different color interpolation methods. From left to right, srgb, which kind of muddies the blended colours in the middle to a light pastel purple, lch, which moves seems to move to the blue colour quicker, not creating the purple muddiness, oklch, which does move through the purple but in a more subtle way, oklab, which remains more pink than anything, and hsl, which adds a very dark almost internet blue at the centre of the gradient

Lots of tech dudes think the "idea" is the important part of creating, not the creative journey you take through work to give that idea actual meaning. Ideas are the easiest, cheapest and least fulfilling part of it. Giving ideas life through work, and sharing that work with others, is the stuff.

One of the big things I keep advocating for, especially on teams where everyone is distributed, is we need more offsites that are engineering/product/design all in the room together to help talk through this stuff and actually get in person face time with each other.
